✨Wanted to share an update on our little mint collar girl for those asking about her 🖤 💪🏼✨
A little back story….upon the initial injury, (which of course happened on a Sunday) the ER vet said yes it’s broken in 2 spots, but not at the growth plate which is good and it needs surgery; but she needs an orthopedic surgeon.
Ok. Deb took her back home and we were able to get in with another referral vet which could take her Monday morning.
Monday morning Deb goes to the second vet and they see the X-rays and say oh, we can just wrap it, this doesn’t need surgery.
Oh. Ok great…they wrap it for one week, Deb goes back and they wrap it for a second week.
This past Monday she goes to have the cast taken off and X-rays taken again….they come back and say ummmm…this needs surgery and possible amputation 😳😳😳😳
Deb leaves with the puppy….
In a panic, we talk to one of our puppy owners, now turned amazing friend Abby Lang (Beacon’s mom) who is an ER veterinarian in NC and she consulted with the surgeons at her practice to which they said… yes it needs surgery ASAP! NO!!!! IT doesn’t need to be amputated!
Fast forward to us getting a consultation with same day surgery appointment at Valley Central Referral Center in Allentown, Pa yesterday, thankfully only a half hour from us!
Dr Nicole Salas DVM, DACVS…is new to their practice but her skills were fantastic and she was able to re brake, clean scar tissue from the wrong casting job and insert a tiny plate and screws to repair her leg. She was extremely happy with the outcome of the surgery and we were able to pick her up today!
She is confident that she will live a normal, happy life!
Thank you to EVERYONE who helped us navigate this uncharted territory and utmost extreme gratitude to Dr Salas and her team at Valley Central!!!
We heard the puppy was a hit at the clinic ❤️❤️
Puppy girl is 5 weeks old today 🥰
