2025 was all about finding balance. I slowed down our intake significantly so I could truly focus on the residents already here.
We welcomed Neptune, Starla, Boop, and Leo this year. We also had a surprise intake of a deaf dog with mild CH... who will absolutely be our last dog 😂

Kiki beat FIP against the odds. We navigated vet visits, some ER trips (because of course), and said goodbye to sweet Ella. I started DIY projects to improve life for everyone here, though it feels like these projects might wrap up in 2028🫠The catio project have also started, which I'm so excited about! I still don't have a proper dining table, so the daily battle to eat my own food continues.

Our first local fundraiser partnership with 007 Pub has been incredible and showed me just how supportive this community is.
This work continues to teach me and push me to grow, and I'm incredibly grateful for it. Thank you for supporting this mission, for every donation that made this year possible, and for being advocates for special needs and senior cats who deserve all of the comfort and love.
Here's to 2026 🌞🐾

Wilbur and Starla have been inseparable since the day Starla arrived as a kitten. Starla adores Wilbur and is always seeking him out. It's clear he loves her right back🧡

Holidays here look a little different ✨
There aren’t really days off in rescue, but there are small pauses like this 😌 Sitting outside with the seniors, catching some sun together, and letting everyone soak it in before heading back inside for naps.
December in Phoenix means cooler mornings and nights, but still t-shirt weather during the day. I quietly wish I could snuggle up in a cozy sweater, but the Suncatchers absolutely love this time of year.
It’s not very festive, but I treasure these slow moments with the senior Suncatchers 🌟

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! 🎄

If you're wondering, yes my sleep quality is questionable.
These small bodies can surprisingly take up so much space! I wake up multiple times a night from sleeping in weird positions, being pushed to the edge of my bed, or a cat fully asleep on my neck. I have a queen sized bed, by the way😂😅

More food arrived and Miss Teapot immediately claimed the boxes as her throne 🧡📦
Seeing these deliveries come in is such a relief, and it means our cats are covered and cared for as we head into the holidays🎄 I’m so grateful for everyone who continues to support the Suncatchers in such a tangible way. We couldn’t do this without you and we're feeling the love🩷

Heartfelt thanks to:
Dilani, Kelly, and Scott 🧡
(More thank-yous coming as I finish unpacking!)

Last night, I spent a solid 20 minutes calling Neptune’s name, fully panicking.

I noticed Leo sniffing an empty box, so I peeked inside and there he was.

This happens more often than I’d like to admit, and I really wish they’d do us one favor and at least meow when called 🥴

Black cat owners- does this happen to you? 📦

When we shared that we were running low on food, you all sprung into action. Packages arrived, gift cards came through, and the sanctuary is fully stocked for now🧡

Thank you to everyone who sent food directly and to those who sent Chewy gift cards. Every bit of support goes straight into daily care, and it’s such a comfort knowing we’re not doing this alone.

These moments remind me that this sanctuary is held up by so many kind hearts, and I’m endlessly thankful for that 💛

With heartfelt thanks to:
Anthony, Connor, Breanna, Angela, Jan, and an anonymous donor🙏✨

🆘 We opened our last bag of kibble today and need your help 🆘

With this many mouths to feed, we go through a small bag of dry food in about 3 days, and a box of wet food just as quickly. Right now, both are running low.

Food is one of our biggest day-to-day needs, and every bag or case goes straight into bowls almost immediately.

If you’re able to help, our Chewy and Amazon wishlists are linked in the comments, and I’ll be sharing the links in stories today as well. Every item donated makes an immediate difference 💛

Thank you for always showing up for the Suncatchers in the ways you can. It truly means everything 🙏✨

Over the weekend, I tried nail caps for the very first time for Aiko.
Aiko is paralyzed and needs his bladder and bowels expressed 4 times a day. For the past 3 years, I’ve struggled with his surprisingly strong front legs as he tries to climb on me during care. This often resulted in scratches to my neck, shoulders, and sometimes my face, regardless of how often or how short I trimmed his nails. It was painful, and I tried different approaches to find something that worked for both of us.

Nail caps were truly a last resort, and he’s the only one of our paralyzed cats who needs them. And they've. been. a. game. changer!!!👏👏 I can express him without pain now, and he seems completely unbothered — he let me put them on while I was watching reality TV like it was no big deal.

Caregiving looks different for every cat, even if they have the same ailment. I'm elated that I found something that works for Aiko, and it keeps both of us safe💕 Plus, he’s kind of dazzling and I love it on him ✨💅

Every day, I spend 3–4 hours cleaning this sanctuary because when you care for paralyzed cats, blind cats, seniors with dementia, and medically fragile cats, messes are just part of the deal.

Thanks to your donations, I was able to replace the scrubber after it died on me last week. It’s not the glamorous side of rescue, but it’s the side that makes all the difference: keeping the sanctuary clean, safe, and livable for both the cats and myself.

Your support keeps this tiny sanctuary running, and it’s what allows me to keep saying “yes” to the special needs and senior cats who need a soft place to land.

Thank you for being part of this work🧡

✨ Leo Update! ✨

Leo’s f***l test came back NEGATIVE!!! 🎉
We are so relieved , and honestly a little shocked, but in the best way possible.

Our vet noted that he has bacterial overgrowth, which can explain his chronic liquid diarrhea. He has already started on a course of antibiotics, and now it's all about supportive care. Severe chronic diarrhea can take months to fully recover, so we're taking it day by day.

Thank you to everyone who’s been keeping Leo in your thoughts, sending him love, and cheering him on.

If anyone feels called to chip in toward his $30 antibiotics or his ongoing care, we’re always super grateful for the support 💛

Thank you again to everyone who came out to the Caturday Fundraiser at The OO7 PUB!
We raised $100 from Saturday’s pints 🍻💛

If you couldn’t make it, Caturday happens every Saturday! A dollar from each pint sold goes straight to Suncatcher Sanctuary, so you can support the cats just by enjoying a drink.

I went ahead and put the $100 toward our catio fundraiser so we’re inching closer, little by little✨
