I've been slowly updating our website and realized Miss Teapot's bio photo was way overdue for a refresh.
The last one was taken just a month or two after she arrived, when her facial dermatitis was still pretty severe.

Look at her now! The redness has calmed down significantly, she's much fluffier, and while I still clean her face almost daily, she's come so far 😺✨

I even sometimes forget where these cats started and it's nice to look at their earlier photos to remind myself of how far they've come and their resilience. I'm so proud of her 🙌

A huge thank you to 007 Pub for supporting Suncatcher Sanctuary! 🍺💛
In December, 007 Pub launched "Caturday" - every Saturday, $1 from each pint sold goes directly to our special needs and hospice cats. I'm so excited to share that together we raised $275 in our first month!

This partnership means the world to us because it's not just about the funds. It's about our local community showing up and advocating for cats like our Suncatchers 😺☀️

We did it🎉 Leo's vet visit is fully covered thanks to you.
I'm honestly overwhelmed by how quickly you all showed up for him. Within hours, we reached our goal 🥹

Leo started his medication last night and we're hopeful this is the turning point he needs. He's getting extra meals throughout the day to help him gain weight back, and we're keeping him comfortable while the medication does its work. I'll keep you updated as we see how he responds.
Thank you for being here, for caring about these Suncatchers, and for making it possible to give them the medical care they deserve. This community is everything 🩵

We just got back from the vet with Leo.
After examining him and reviewing his symptoms of chronic diarrhea, weight loss, increased water intake, and decreased energy, our vet suspects IBD. He noticed some possible thickening in Leo's small intestines during the exam.

We're starting him on anti-inflammatory medication tonight and hoping this will help him long-term. We'll continue monitoring him day by day and follow up with the vet when we see changes.
Leo is such a sweet boy and wants nothing more than some head rubs. We're cautiously optimistic that we will finally see him gain his weight and strength back.

Official backsplash reveal and I'm SO excited to finally share this! 🌟
I've been veeery slowly working on installing this yellow backsplash, and this small section is the first part I've actually completed. I chose yellow because it's my favorite color, but also want this place to begin reflecting the essence of Suncatcher Sanctuary 🌻
Is it perfect? Absolutely not. Is it shoddy if you look too close? Yes. Do I have enough DIY skills to continue on? Also no. But am I proud of it anyway? 100%! 😆
Of course, the Suncatchers had to supervise every step of the process. Hope you enjoy seeing the progress as much as I did! 💛

An update on Leo.

Leo hasn't been improving. I've been weighing him daily and while his weight fluctuates, the overall trend is declining. His water intake has increased even though he's on wet food only, which tells me something isn't right.

We've tried different medications, but nothing's working long term. We're going back to the vet on Thursday to get a clearer picture of what his body is going through and what long-term management might look like.

Leo is such a sweet boy. He deserves answers and the best care we can give him.

It would mean the world if you keep him in your thoughts and send some positivity 🩵

The year might have changed, but the usual shenanigans continue. Neptune and Wilbur can't resist sticking their heads in the dog's food box while I'm feeding them. (I promise I tried stopping them, but their willpower was strong!) Now they're covered in powder and have absolutely zero regrets 😂

Never a dull moment.

2025 was all about finding balance. I slowed down our intake significantly so I could truly focus on the residents already here.
We welcomed Neptune, Starla, Boop, and Leo this year. We also had a surprise intake of a deaf dog with mild CH... who will absolutely be our last dog 😂

Kiki beat FIP against the odds. We navigated vet visits, some ER trips (because of course), and said goodbye to sweet Ella. I started DIY projects to improve life for everyone here, though it feels like these projects might wrap up in 2028🫠The catio project have also started, which I'm so excited about! I still don't have a proper dining table, so the daily battle to eat my own food continues.

Our first local fundraiser partnership with 007 Pub has been incredible and showed me just how supportive this community is.
This work continues to teach me and push me to grow, and I'm incredibly grateful for it. Thank you for supporting this mission, for every donation that made this year possible, and for being advocates for special needs and senior cats who deserve all of the comfort and love.

Wilbur and Starla have been inseparable since the day Starla arrived as a kitten. Starla adores Wilbur and is always seeking him out. It's clear he loves her right back🧡

Holidays here look a little different ✨
There aren’t really days off in rescue, but there are small pauses like this 😌 Sitting outside with the seniors, catching some sun together, and letting everyone soak it in before heading back inside for naps.
December in Phoenix means cooler mornings and nights, but still t-shirt weather during the day. I quietly wish I could snuggle up in a cozy sweater, but the Suncatchers absolutely love this time of year.
It’s not very festive, but I treasure these slow moments with the senior Suncatchers 🌟

If you're wondering, yes my sleep quality is questionable.
These small bodies can surprisingly take up so much space! I wake up multiple times a night from sleeping in weird positions, being pushed to the edge of my bed, or a cat fully asleep on my neck. I have a queen sized bed, by the way😂😅
