What a weekend. Full of surprises. Made 13 pounds pork sausage. 8 pounds chicken sausage. Veggies for the week. Made nutless pesto!

Weather is cooling and our rogue watermelons are going strong. Two new little ones and the big one is getting so close! Yum! Can’t wait!

Check out this beauty. Got to love that it was a total accident. A dropped seed in the grass. We stopped mowing so it could grow! Love the desert farm life!

What wonderful little treats coming! Watermelon and zucchini are growing! We also have a littl gopher that made all the way through or garden (which has fencing deep in the ground) to surface in the grass. Augh! Thought we solved this issue. One of the things our urban farm deals with being Next door to an orange grove. Still blessed!

Mushrooms are great. How fast these pop up during monsoon season. They lay dormant for a long time and then spring into action when it rains! Simply love this life and watching all the wonders around. I just wish we could eat them! I want to forage!!!

The aftermath after storms are not always bad. Look at the growth in our squash and melons. Inches a day! The grass is overtaking everything. And holy Basil!!! Time for a harvest. Just need the ground to dry. Has been so muddy I got stuck. Finding the blessings…

Our urban farm has taken a beating. Just like the homes in Phoenix. Downed trees, ruined crops, and strange mushrooms growing. However there are some bright spots. New growth, lush green areas. And cooler temps! Being thankful for the life we have!!!

With so much devastation on our plants from the heat, wind, and storms, we are blessed to have veggies to put up. Making fresh salsa to can add well as tomato sauce and tomato juice. Helps with the loss of about 60% of our broccoli, tomatoes, lettuce, and kale crops…

Rain in the desert is so needed. Woke to this alarm. Means I do not have to get up… maybe get to sleep in? Hopefully our plants make it through.

The heat is getting to be too much. Wilting leaves, total plant loss and points of extreme disappointment. When you are down, always do what you need to to lick you up… swim to stay cool, do projects indoors to stay cool, and be thankful you are healthy enough to experience it all day by day!

On this day of freedom, I am so thankful I am able to grow food and be more self sufficient. I am also keenly aware that we have so much to do to allow for the freedoms of all in our country. We will work to raise awareness to the need to respect, equality, appreciation and support for all! Use today and everyday to make a difference.

Unexpected blessings come when it is super hot outside, your refrigerator in the garage breaks and you lose a bunch of homemade juice and freezer items, and the heat devastates some or your prized tomatoes. How do you cope? Smile and appreciate you had food in the broken fridge, be thankful you have a refrigerator in the house to use, be grateful for air conditioning, be reminded that you have other plants and shade. Most of all…. Get your home improvement hat on! Start a home renovation project or adding another bedroom upstairs. Focus on what you can control.

Native to North America and offer so many benefits. ✅fight off anxiety ☑️help with mind and body ✅cancer prevention ☑️wound healing and so much more!
