🎶It's getting hot in here.... so don't leave us in the car!🎶

Seriously though, it's way too hot to leave your dog in the car. Even with the windows rolled down. Don't believe me? Put on a fur coat and give it a try.
Remember, dogs don't sweat like humans, they cool down by panting.

One day in a Fry's parking lot I saw a dog in a car with the window half way down in the summer. He was panting like crazy, tongue and mouth were bone dry. Luckily for the owner the door was unlocked, otherwise I would have broken his window. I got the dog out and gave him water while another person called the police. The man showed up same time as the police. He was so angry and told us to mind our own business. The police officer reminded him that there are laws in place to protect animals and children from this very situation. And laws in place to protect the people who save them. He was given a ticket and hopefully learned his lesson.

PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE!

Do Not Put Your Dogs In The Bed Of Your Truck!
I don't see this very often anymore but if you or someone you know does this please stop. Not only can the dog get hurt but the dog jumping or falling out can cause an accident. If you feel you must do this then contain your dog in a kennel that is strapped in and has a solid top to protect them from the sun.

I rescued a human today..

Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels. I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her.

I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn't be afraid.
As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage.
I didn't want her to know that I hadn't been walked today. Sometimes the overworked shelter keepers get too busy and I didn't want her to think poorly of them.

As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in someone's life.

She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me. I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her.
Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship. A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well.

Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms.
I would promise to keep her safe.
I would promise to always be by her side.
I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes.
I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor.

So many more are out there who haven't walked the corridors.
So many more to be saved.
At least I could save one.
I rescued a human today..

On September 11th many Americans are flooded with memories of a tragic day that will never be forgotten. In honor of that we would like to take the time to highlight the rescue dogs who came to Ground Zero alongside their rescue workers to join the endeavor of recovery efforts. 🇺🇸

Not only were the canine partners originally involved in the search of scent to rescue survivors, but they also worked to recover the remains of victims, as well as utilizing their natural ability to comfort those on site. 🐕

Dogs are truly remarkable animals and their selflessness can be life changing. We’re thankful to be blessed with the opportunity to work alongside dogs every day and aim to help you see the immense potential in creating the best relationship with your four-legged companion. ♥️

Update: 9/1/23: Emerson went to county foster and he’s doing great! He’s still available for adoption❤️

Oh Emerson , you are EVERYTHING🥰…Just look at his smile!!🥰
This boy is said to be about 12 years old and was found as a stray. He looks like he’s been loved, but where are his people?😞
Emerson is starting to feel happier at the shelter. It’s nice to see, but it’s still no place for an older boy that is so amazing❤️

Emerson gets around well, but he could definitely benefit from some joint supplements at his age. He is slightly grabby with treats, but I don’t think he can see up close very well. If you just do open palm, it’s no problem❤️ he is suuuuper food motivated and loves to play.
I did not see any dog reactivity at all, but he would still need the recommended time separated to decompress and slow and safe introductions.

Emerson absolutely stole our hearts and he should not spend another second in a shelter at his age. He deserves a soft bed and lots of love.
