Leo
Leo is a beautiful brindle pitbull and was full of puppy energy that had never been controlled. He is fun and loving but combined with 90lbs of muscle, made him too much to handle and he soon found himself on the E-List in the county shelter. My friend at the rescue pulled Leo, trained him and prepared him to go to his forever home. Leo was adopted by a wonderful couple who were excited to love him, walk him and make him part of their family. So, Leo was transferred to his new family with a very specific instruction: โKeep Leo double leashed until you are comfortable with him on walksโ.
Leoโs new family was excited to buy Leo all kinds of accessories and toys which included a beautiful new collar with a plastic buckle a 1 single leash. Double leashing Leo was just too cumbersome so the instruction was ignored.
On a walk with Leo, in his new collar with the plastic clip and his new leash, the family came across an aggressive dog also on a walk. The other dog started barking, Leo started barking, and with all his 90lbs of muscle Leo charged and broke his collar and . . .
Leo came back to the rescue, sat in a county imposed quarantine kennel for 10 days and we set off to commit to never putting Leo into the same situation ever again!
