The AKC Parent Club Committee (made up of AKC Delegates from all Parent Clubs) is developing an online educational conference to provide paths for success and development for Parent Clubs. Each Parent Club has been asked to assess their concerns and list 5 problems or areas of improvement.

Please let us know your concerns and how we can make USLTC better.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

The AKC Parent Club Committee is in the process of developing an online educational conference for Parent Clubs. We need your Parent Club and the assistance of other Parent Clubs in order to move forward.

Many Parent Clubs are having significant problems functioning and growing. This online Parent Clubs Conference will provide alternative and creative paths for success and development.

In preparation for the conference, we will be hosting an open Zoom meeting of Parent Club representatives in order to listen to these issues and then build discussion topics accordingly. In addition, we are asking each Parent Club to assess their concerns and provide us with five (5) problems or areas of improvement that are considered to be primary needs of your organization.

This information will be used solely by our committee in the development of the projected Parent Clubs Educational Conference. This will be of immense value to us to build a range of relevant and important topics for our Parent Clubs to consider.

Your Club will be sent an email and response form from the Parent Clubs Committee addressed to President, Secretary, and Delegate about January 6, 2025. Please designate one person from your club to answer for your Club. The deadline for returning your answers will be February 1, 2025.

In July, my vet advised me. that I needed to start Matthew on lepto vaccines because the disease is rising in Arizona wildlife and I walk with him where he could be exposed. Three weeks later my friend Pam's 5 year old Wheaten girl died of lepto, even though she hadn't left her home since she whelped 6 months previously. Pam's vet told her he didn't think it could be lepto because he hadn't seen any in 10 years, but since Dr Littman encouraged the test, he did it and the test was positive. Because there is a good bit of confusion about the disease and vaccines, the SCWTCA asked Dr Littman, who is now retired from the University of Pennsylvania, to present a webinar about the topic. This is important information for all dog owners and everyone is invited, regardless of breed.

****Important Webinar for you and your vet*****

Not only for Wheaten Terriers but for all dog owners. We encourage you to attend this webinar and show your support and appreciation for Dr Littman and Dr Wiley. If you have questions on Lepto, diagnosis and vaccinations please send them to [email protected] and we will submit them to Dr. Littman directly."

In a significant move, veterinary health authorities have updated the core vaccine recommendations for dogs to now include the leptospirosis vaccine. This update is particularly important for dog breeders, who play a crucial role in the health and well-being of future generations of dogs". - Claire Wiley, VMD DACVIM

On Thursday November 14th 7 pm est Dr. Meryl Littman will present a Webinar on Leptospirosis.

Lepto is on the rise in our country and alot of the information we have on this vaccine is outdated with the improved version of this vaccine. Please join us for an update from an expert.

This webinar is dedicated to Sprite, Rafferty, Emmy and Pippa all Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers that were affected with Lepto and subsequently succumbed to this infectious disease and who’s owners reported the results to the SCWT Health and Pedigree Database to help other owners understand this infectious disease. It is also dedicated to Molly who is a Lepto survivor and was cared for by Dr Sara Jablonsky at Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine and who is heading up a PLE study now.

Susan Ratliffe is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
