Blueberries, y’all!
Message us if you want to come pick.

Blueberries are getting ready to be ready. I would say perhaps a week later than usual. Look for our season to start the weekend after Memorial Day.

Lots of changes going on at the Farm this winter. Wanting to be a 3 Lab Family again, we planned to purchase Jolie on November 26th only to lose our Lab, Luna on November 25th. We went through with our original plan and brought Jolie home , but realized that she needed a playmate. Our Bella is almost 9 years old and does not want to play. So, we purchased Pepper this week.
Yesterday, we sold our two horses to a sweet family who will take good care of them. So, we are down to three dogs and three chickens. You might say we are in the evaluation phase. We will eventually have other animals, but our horse days are over. Stay tuned...

On Good Friday morning, as we packed up the truck to head to Grand Isle, Kevin said, “We are going to your happy place, huh mom?” I had been thinking about this very question just the day before and decided in my heart that I have two happy places now: Grand Isle and K&J Farm. I have never lived anywhere that made me as happy as home does now. It is the happy place I get to go to every day.

Everything happens in the Lord's timing...we hear people say that, but it is so hard to "wait on the Lord." We have known since October that we wanted to re-home the minis, but finding them a new home is not so easy when you want them to go as a pair. Last Thursday, four of the horses got out and visited a neighbor. Those neighbors wanted to keep the minis, and a friend wants our mare. In four days, we have re-homed three horses. This is so incredible! God really is good...all the time. Happy Easter everyone!

They’re going to be some fat little boogers!

I’m constantly in awe that I get to live here. Here’s my view from the golf cart as I drink my coffee this morning.

My blueberry bushes say, “Brrr!”
Horses are hanging out in the barn. All warm blooded creatures accounted for, and we are almost ready to watch Cars 3.

Fence up on Rester Road. No more places for the horses to escape the yard! Thank you John and Jacob!

For the last month or so, the horses have had full rein of the whole 23 acres. The yard is fenced except for about 30 feet on the side road that you have to walk through woods and swamp to get through. Noah had been back less than 24 hours and left the yard today with Whiskey in tow.
Thankfully, they jumped back in and stayed put, but now they are back in fenced pasture. Damned minis 🙄😬🐴

Reunited and it feels so good...The minis came home today.

This afternoon, the minis (who started this whole "we need horses" thing), are leaving the farm. They are going to live at Northshore High School in the Ag Dept. I'm excited for them, but a little sad. We are encouraged to visit them as much as we want though.

Brought the horses into the barn in the nick of time this morning. Heavy rains started about five minutes after I was back in the house. People tease me that it's ok for them to be wet, and it is, but I don't like them out in the lightening and heavy rain. They're my kids!

The Falterman's first blueberry crop was a great learning experience. We now know that the harvest is basically from Mother's Day to Father's Day. We might've made it to the end of June were it not for TS Cindy 😕

On this day a year ago, we sold our house in Slidell. We had no idea the change that would happen in our lives with our move to the farm. We didn't know the joy we would feel. We have lived here less than a year, and I think we still don't know the everlasting effects of the decision we made a year ago.

06/06/2017

Thank goodness we are about 90 feet above sea level. The rain just will not quit! The blueberry bushes are soaking it all up, but even they want some Vitamin D. It's so fascinating how every bush shows berries with the green, red, and bluish-purple cycle of the berries. How can anyone deny that God made this intelligent plant?
The horses are quite waterlogged though 🙄
