Beautiful

A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead.
He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them.
After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight.
When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold. He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side.
When he was close enough, he called out, 'Excuse me, where are we?'
'This is Heaven, sir,' the man answered.
Would you happen to have some water?' the man asked.
Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up'.
The man gestured, and the gate began to open.
'Can my friend,' gesturing toward his dog, 'come in, too?' the traveler asked.

'I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets.'
The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog.
After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road leading through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence. As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.
'Excuse me!' he called to the man. 'Do you have any water?'
'Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in..'
'How about my friend here?' the traveler gestured to the dog.
There should be a bowl by the pump.'
They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it.
The traveler filled the water bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog.
When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree.
'What do you call this place?' the traveler asked.
This is Heaven,' he answered.
'Well, that's confusing,' the traveler said. 'The man down the road said that was Heaven, too.'
'Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's hell.'
'Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?'
'No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave their best friends behind🤍🤍🤍

There's some controversy and concern surrounding one of the most sought-after pet products on the market.

Bravecto, Bravecto Plus, Nexgard, Simparica, Simparica Trio, Credelio, Revolution Plus all contain Isoxazoline which is a neurotoxin! ☠️

It is only supposed to be toxic to the parasites however, data is showing the toxicity is NOT limited to parasites and we are seeing many adverse reactions in dogs and cats.

Some adverse reactions that my clients have seen include:
• Aggression
• Personality changes
• Seizures
• Disorientation
• Wobbling or unstable gate
• Sensitivity to touch
• Abnormal vocalizations
• Urinary or f***l incontinence
• Death
I have seen these adverse reactions happen immediately after administration, but I have also worked with cases where the pet parent noticed these reactions days, weeks, or even months later. Sometimes the reactions don’t occur until multiple doses of the medication have been given.

AVOID THIS DRUG!

It's 85 degrees outside. People like to leave their dogs in the car while they run into the store for just a "minute". If we get to your car before you come back out, the ticket is $260. We have a city ordinance that states:

"Further, it shall be unlawful to:
(3)Leave an animal enclosed within a vehicle, or the bed of a parked truck, in ambient temperature which exceeds 79 degrees Fahrenheit unless said animal is enclosed inside the vehicle with the air conditioning turned on." under Sec 6-9.

Please leave your pets at home. The inside of a car heats up very quickly.

If you witness this happening Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm, call 405-372-0334.

If it is after hours or the weekend, call 405-372-4171 immediately.

A pet in a parked car, even with the windows open, can quickly overheat and die on a warm day!! WHY do people insist on taking their dogs with them?

If you see an animal in distress in someone’s car, call 911 immediately and try to find the owner. If you cannot find the owner immediately, and you are still waiting for first responders and the animal seems to be in grave condition, state law allows you to break the car window or make entry to save the pet’s life.

An Avoidable Tragedy: Dogs in Hot Cars

Not even for a minute!

Not even with the car running and air conditioner on.

On a warm day, temperatures inside a vehicle can rise rapidly to dangerous levels.

Every summer, as temperatures rise, so does the danger of companion animals dying because they are carelessly left in a hot car. While humans cool themselves by relying on an extensive system of sweat glands and evaporation, dogs and other animals have a harder time staying cool, leaving them extremely vulnerable to heatstroke.

Parked cars quickly trap the sun’s heat. Even on a day when it’s 70 degrees outside, the temperature inside a car with all the windows closed can hit 89 degrees in just 10 minutes, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association.

On a hot day, the temperature inside a closed car can shoot as high as 114 degrees in the same amount of time. Leaving the windows open a crack doesn’t eliminate the danger of heatstroke or death.

Watch the humidity

"It's important to remember that it's not just the ambient temperature, but also the humidity that can affect your pet," says Dr. Barry Kellogg, VMD, of the Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association. "Animals pant to evaporate moisture from their lungs, which takes heat away from their body. If the humidity is too high, they are unable to cool themselves and their temperature will skyrocket to dangerous levels—very quickly."
Taking a dog's temperature will quickly tell you if there is a serious problem. Dogs' temperatures should not reach over 104 degrees. If your dog's temperature does, follow the instructions below for treating heat stroke.

Watch for signs of heatstroke

Extreme temperatures can cause heatstroke. Some signs of heatstroke are heavy panting, glazed eyes, a rapid heartbeat, difficulty breathing, excessive thirst, lethargy, fever, dizziness, lack of coordination, profuse salivation, vomiting, a deep red or purple tongue, seizure and unconsciousness.

Animals are at particular risk for heat stroke if they are very old, very young, overweight, not conditioned to prolonged exercise, or have heart or respiratory disease. Some breeds of dogs—like Boxers, Pugs, Shih Tzus and other dogs and cats with short muzzles—will have a much harder time breathing in extreme heat. hs.org

EAT & FEED BLUEBERRIES!

In a study conducted on sled dogs, blueberry supplementation elicited significantly elevated antioxidant status in the dogs.

This suggests that dogs fed blueberries should be better protected against oxidative damage. -

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16520073

Aside from being classified as antiangiogenic aka anti-cancer, blueberries contain a compound called pterostilbene, a derivative of resveratrol.

These little blue powerhouses are good antioxidants because they contain phenolics that preferentially react with free radicals.

So, offering your furry companion blueberries can help protect them against cancer!

DO YOU KNOW WHAT A TITER TEST IS?

Shockingly, many pet owners have no idea!

A titer test (pronounced tight-errr) is a laboratory or in-house veterinary test measuring the existence and level of antibodies (necessary to fight off disease) in your pet’s blood. Basically, it’s a test that will tell you whether or not you actually need to vaccinate your pet.

It’s also super useful when making a decision about vaccinating a pet with an unknown vaccination history, or for determining if pets have received immunity from vaccination.

Why is this so important?

Because of what can happen if you over-vaccinate your pet! “Vaccinosis”, the name for the chronic disease, is caused by continued use of vaccines. These symptoms mimic the original disease in parts.

According to the guide "Canine Nutrigenomics" by world-renowned veterinarian immunologist Dr. Jean Dodds and Diana R. Laverdure:

“Vaccines have achieved many important benefits for companion animals, including:

•Saved more animals' lives than any other medical advance.

•Significantly reduced canine distemper, hepatitis and parvovirus.

•Significantly reduced feline pan leukopenia.

•Eliminated rabies in Europe.

However after spending many years monitoring the results of vaccinosis, those in the animal healthcare field now have a duty to re-examine and improve the current vaccine protocols for the health and safety of their patients. This is especially true for animals with compromised immune systems, since vaccines represent one more stressor that could prove to be the tipping point between health and disease.

Side effects from dog vaccinations can occur anywhere from instantly up to several weeks or months later. Vaccines can even cause susceptibility to chronic diseases that appear much later in a dog’s life (Dodd, 2001).

Severe and fatal adverse reactions include:

•Susceptibility to infections.

•Neurological disorders and encephalitis.

•Aberrant behavior, including unprovoked aggression.

•Vaccines are linked to seizures. Distemper, parvovirus, rabies and, presumably, other vaccines have been linked with poly neuropathy, a nerve disease that involves inflammation of several nerves. (Dodds,2001) “

The most basic method for a titer is where your pet’s blood is drawn and sent away for testing. It ranges anywhere from $150 to $200. The most affordable method is the new “in house” testing procedure. This test is performed at the vet clinic and it takes about 20mins to get the results. The price range is anywhere from $60 to $80!

According to truth4pets.org, “Although titer testing may cost somewhat more than vaccination in the short run, it is a bargain long term. Titers do not have to be repeated yearly or even every three years. By testing rather than vaccinating, you avoid the risk of adverse reactions from unnecessary vaccines and the accompanying cost of treatment.”

“The most useful time to run a titer test is after your youngster has received her initial series of vaccinations. Especially if you’ve limited that series to just one or two vaccinations, the last being after 16 weeks of age. The odds are you’ve just conferred lifetime immunity to your youngster.

If you want to know how effective your vaccinations were in conferring immunity (i.e. did vaccination = immunization?), ask your vet to run a titer test a few weeks later.” - Dr. Falconer

And there you have it. Now you know.

Remember: there is a huge difference between “not vaccinating” and over-vaccinating your pet. Unfortunately some are very quick to pull the “Anti-Va###er trigger” these days, the second a vaccine article is released.

With most vet clinics today vaccinating pets every six months for the rest of these pets’ lives, does this not warrant thought or research?

Invasion of the Family Snatchers
October 12 – My wife called me while I was at the store and asked if I knew why there was a small, bedraggled dog hanging around our back door. I told her in no uncertain terms should she open that door. I also stressed that neither she nor the kids should look at, speak to, or interact with the creature in any way. I’ll be danged if that mongrel is going to squeeze his way into my house to mooch off me. My wife and I are in complete agreement on this point.
I made and distributed several hundred I-found-your-dog fliers to every single house in the neighborhood.

October 13 – Placed ads in several papers and online publications but haven’t had any responses yet.
My wife made a little cardboard house for the beast today, saying, “There was no reason for the little cutie pie to suffer while we search for his owners.”
Note to self: Interrogate wife about sudden appearance of dog food in our cabinet.

October 14 – My wife is suddenly talking baby talk to the dog. I came around the corner today to find her saying, “Oos a wittle cutie? Yous is! Yous a wittle cutie!”
Just two days ago we both solemnly agreed that the last thing we need in our house is a dog but now something strange has happened. She looks the same but now it’s almost like she’s a completely different person.
I saw a movie once where alien spores from a meteorite took over the bodies of all the people on the planet. Call me crazy, but this looks a lot like that.
Just sat the kids down and told them that alien spores may have taken control of their mom. Told them to keep an eye on Mom and stay away from the dog no matter what!

October 15 – Came home this evening to find my wife had taken the dog to the vet who said that it looks like a Shih Tzu. This breed is apparently known for its almost supernatural powers of cuteness. They use this power to enslave their owners and make them talk like two-year-olds.

October 16 – Somehow, against all odds, the creature has made its way into my house. The kids are also now talking baby talk to the alien dog creature. It’s obvious that I’ve lost the battle and the creature now controls every member of the family but me.

October 17 – Barricaded in my bedroom. Caught myself almost petting the creature last night. I’m worried I might be getting infected with the alien spores. If it happens that somehow I am also infected, I leave this journal to prove that I once was a normal, intelligent human being, in full possession of my mind and vocabulary.

October 18 – Just came home from getting doggie treats and gave sweetums his huggie-poos! He’s just the cutest wittle baby and I wuv him so much! Yes, I does! Yes, I does!

(This mostly-true article is in celebration of Scrappy's16th birthday this month [estimated by the vet, since he was about 1.5 years when he showed up at our door]).
