Let's talk about your search for a puppy.
Scammers are everywhere these days. (Even for breeders trying to sell a puppy! But that's a topic for another day.)
So we have a few red flags we think are super important that you should look out for when reaching out to someone selling a puppy.
🚩They aren't willing to do a video call. Video call is important because you get to see the puppies in real time. It's not a stolen video or picture. If you can't video call even a phone call is a bit better so you can get a feel for the breeder.
🚩 They don't offer a health guarantee. Having a health guarantee in the contract is the breeder saying that to the best of their knowledge you're getting a healthy puppy and that they will work with you if something unexpected comes up.
🚩They don't answer after you send a deposit. This one is a pretty clear sign that a scam has happened. Sadly, some people are really good at what they do and are very convincing. Be aware if they don't contact you back or take a very long time between contacting you back (days or weeks).
🚩 They don't have any references. If they've ever bred before they should have some references so you can talk to past buyers about their experiences. Character references are also important .
