Winter will be looking a lot warmer for this sweet girl of ours this year! We have plateaued right around 1015lbs, which I am okay with for now. She’s currently maintaining it well and we haven’t ridden anymore since I’ve been so busy.
So we haven’t gained muscle mass. That’s okay, my goal for her right now is to maintain her weight and just be a happy and healthy horse. I am hopeful in the next few weeks, with as cold as it’s been, she will pack on some more fat. Her winter jacket is coming in nicely, very thick and even all over which I am tickled about, just goes to show when fed properly, they thrive. 🖤

Hey everybody. Just wanted to pop in and say Gypsy is still doing wonderful! I was able to snap a quick pic of her standing in “Grace’s corner” after I got off work and before i started getting ready for the haunted hay ride. I haven’t had a lot of time recently to spend extra with all my mares except my main riding horse, Cove, as her and I are volunteering to help support two of our local fire departments. My posts will continue to be very sparse probably until soccer season ends mid November as we have so much going on. But rest assured if anything important happens I will let y’all know! Thank you for understanding and sticking with us on Gypsy’s journey!

Happy Saturday from Gypsy!

It’s been a busy day here on the “mini farm.” Got up first thing and went to a meeting for the haunted hay ride, got firewood, then went and helped hubby (mainly supervising and holding the ladder) work on our gooseneck horse trailer that was originally a 4 horse, got converted to a 3 horse, and we have started converting it back to a 4 horse. Now enjoying some Halloween family time with my hubs, our boys, my older brother, younger brother his wife and their son, and my mom and her boyfriend.

I didn’t get to spend a lot of time with all my girls today but got to love on them like I do every evening. Figured I’d share a few quick pictures with y’all of our beautiful Gypsy. 🖤

Hey everybody! Just wanted to let you all know Gypsy is still doing wonderful! Between assistant coaching, work and kiddos school, prepping for our annual haunted hay ride I volunteer at I have been slammed!

Photo is from today. She feels like velvet and is starting to get fluffy as the weather changes!

Just wanted to take a moment to appreciate how far our girl has come. Every day she writes new chapters in her journey and I am so proud of her. 🖤

Hey everyone! I’ve had to take a little break from social media as September and October are busy months for myself and my kiddos.

We’ve been prepping as fast as we could for this pop up tropical storm. And Gypsy decided she was feeling a little frisky.

Here she is giving us a small canter to the hay. I hope everyone is doing well!

Hey everyone! Not our usual Gypsy content but wanted to share a page made by some very kind people in the effort to help get homes for some of our Duplin County, NC dogs and cats. This is the shelter I adopted Luke and Leia from! They are a very small shelter with only 14 very outdated dog kennels therefore making them very high euthanasia for space. Thankfully, after many years of fundraising, county budgeting and hardwork, DCAS will be moving into a state of the art animal shelter that would make any county proud! If any of Gypsy’s followers happen to know of rescues in or around eastern NC that have the ability to pull or potential families in search of a furry addition, please consider DCAS! I know resources and space are limited for many people and rescues but I’d like to utilize every possible source in helping these beautiful babies a chance at a wonderful life and loving family. 🖤

We did it!!

I learned so much about this sweet girl of ours during our roughly 45 minute ride.

1. She ties but she is going to move. She is so antsy it isn’t even funny. Definitely not one you want to get in between a trailer and her. So we will work on getting her patient around a trailer and that it is a calm/rest place.

2. She’s more pushy on the ground while under saddle. So we will be going back to basics and teaching her respect on the ground, under saddle or not.

3. She can ride bitless! I was so tickled when she rode right off and listened in a new loping hack I got for my 2 year olds. She has good brakes and listens pretty well while she has a rider. She still does not like to sit still and even though she stops, she lets you know she still wants to be moving. She also neck reins! Something else I was ecstatic to find out!

4. She knows when a baby is on her back. Her future rider got led around on her for a few minutes and her entire demeanor changed. She was much softer in her movements and a tad more patient. She will be an excellent teacher for Sawyer to grow with!

Overall I am so tickled with how she did. We will go back to the basics with her, get many more wet saddle pads as we build her hind, topline and get her into overall shape. Her future is so bright. 🖤

Edit to add: videos to follow! Sorry about the language in the one of her and sawyer. My poor husband was being eaten alive while videoing for me. 😂

I can’t believe I don’t have a full on b***y picture from when we first brought Gyp home, but here is a little comparison!

Y’all have no clue how happy I have been to see her swish her tail and not see a sunken hoo-hah anymore.

It’s the little things. 😂🖤

Happy Labor Day from Gypsy!!

Exciting news today! We are going to start lightly working Gyp to get her topline back! I plan to saddle her later today/evening to start assessing what she knows, what she’s comfortable with, and what we need to work on as we build her muscles.

Stay tuned for pictures and maybe a video later today!

Hey everybody!

We hope those who were affected by hurricane idalia made it through safely! The conditions here in ENC have finally calmed down and the weather is gorgeous. The moon is beautiful, full and red. The temperature is giving fall time in the mountains which makes my soul sing.

Sadly our new shelter logic canvas tore but we are thankful nothing else was damaged and that all our girls safely weathered the storm.

Good morning from Gypsy!

In case anyone missed the news yesterday; we started boarding our neighbors early-mid 30’s senior bay mare named Sassy!

Sassy has been a very well loved mare and sadly lost her cow companion over the winter. She has taken it very hard and with her age, she started declining. So while Sassy is in our care, we will be working to get her weight back and making her as comfortable as possible until she tell us she is too tired to continue or nature takes it’s natural course.

As mentioned in yesterdays post, Sassy has osteoarthritis that has calcified on her front right knee. That specific leg was already “bowed” from a young age. Surprisingly enough, if you were to see her walking you would never know anything was wrong with her as she moves around perfectly fine, if not a bit slower.

After calling out to all my horses yesterday, we decided to turn her out with Gypsy, our senior mare at 34 Missy, and our long yearling Ice, who has HYPP.

And the angel that she is, Gypsy and Sassy have become very fast friends. 🖤

Good afternoon from Gypsy!

I just wanted to share a little with y’all about an exciting development! But first and foremost, sorry for not posting frequently, Gypsy’s future rider, my youngest, Sawyer has been sick so we’ve been taking care to get him better.

I want to introduce y’all to a lovely, senior bay mare that belongs to my wonderful neighbors! She will be boarding with us! She’s been in my neighbors family for quiet sometime and is very loved. She had a very hard winter, especially with the loss of her cow companion. We will be working on getting her weight back, addressing the calcification on her right knee and making sure she is comfortable as she lives out the rest of her days with a new herd. 🥰

Just blows my mind, every time I look at her, that these two pictures are of the same horse.

Y’all this girl constantly keeps fairy knots in her mane. I can’t tell you how much Cowboy Magic we go through and how often I brush this mane a week LOL.

Over the past few weeks I’ve had many people reach out to me about products I use for Gypsy or if they could send something to her. So I decided to make a list on Amazon of products we use daily as well as her favorite treats. I’ve been trying to find exact products or comparable. This list is primarily for people to access it if they are curious to what we use for our girl, that way I don’t have to type it over and over again or have them wait for an answer from me. If anyone would like to send her something you’re able to do so through the link, please know we appreciate it so much and will be sure to post her receiving the gift. 🥰
