Farming Marshall Ridge Since 2016

On September 15, 2002, Scott Dowell and Jessica Willis met, and that was the beginning of a dream that has been realized at DW Family Farms, LLC. By the 21st of that month, they were officially dating, and on January 8, 2005, they were married on the 50-yard-line in Lane Stadium at Virginia Tech. The births of three beautiful and healthy girls followed this marriage, as well as relocations to Maryland, South Carolina, and multiple cities in North Carolina. Scott’s career brought the family to the Greensboro area in 2015, and they decided it was time to put down roots in the Triad. An extensive search for farm land began - it had to be private and remote, have room for horses and other livestock, a garden, and hunting. Double T Farm in Pinnacle, NC was on the market at the time, and it was love at first sight for Scott when he first met with the Realtor and the seller for a viewing. Jessica and their girls were able to see the property a few days later, and they also immediately fell in love with this hidden gem. The property had all of the “must haves,” as well as a creek and stocked fishing pond, a barn with an apartment and bar built into the old hayloft, numerous outbuildings including a work shop, garage, and Green Egg room, and a wonderful room in the main house perfect for setting up a homeschool within - woodstove included! After the real estate contract was negotiated and all terms were agreed to, settlement occurred in April 2016. The family has spent their time reclaiming the land and facilities for use, enjoying their horses having access to a small riding arena and the Sauratown Trail system, hunting whitetail deer, fishing in the pond, exploring the geography of the land, gardening, and raising pastured pork.
