Here's some before and after photos of the exterior of the current foreclosure property we have been working on. New roof and gutters, new electrical components, new front door, painted shutters, new decks on front and back, brush and tree clearing, extensive soil grading, window repairs, some landscaping (in progress), new mailbox, new gravel drive and new garage.

What a transformation! This home was abandoned since 2012 (maybe longer).

Hello, friends! We are extremely busy at the moment, so I wanted to get this out real quick. We made it back from our volunteer trip to Western, NC. It was an amazing trip. Life changing for us and them, really. But I need some time to put together a quality post about this with photos and video. I will do that as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience! ~ Jessica

Spoke to the AirB&B owner where we are staying this weekend in Newland. He said he personally has been feeding a good portion of the community across the road there. Like 30 or so people. He said it was really bad there. One of the neighbors lost his entire house. He said to try to get there before it gets dark because there are some drop offs close to the road in some places. He said he normally rents out the RV and a second small building and he lost all his tourist income because people won't come there now. He said he has been using his own money to feed the community and is running out of money. He said he would feed us too, since we are coming to help, but I said we don't intend to use their resources and I thanked him. I asked if there was anything he needed. He said he is good on supplies, but he needs a wheelbarrow. He loaned his out to a neighbor and the neighbor is still using it. He plans to show us video from during the storm. He kept saying "you won't believe it! you won't believe it!" He said he has been working day and night to help everyone since the storm. He sounded overwhelmed. He was thrilled that we were renting his RV. This makes me feel even better that we are doing this.

A good takeaway form this is that the locals that are reliant on tourism still need visitors. So don't be afraid to visit! Just do your homework before going anywhere and expect delays.

It's wild how far reaching the impact of hurricane Helene still is. We tried to order various well water tests for our house from our local county. We were told that they did not have some of the tests because all tests had to be diverted to western North Carolina. They could not tell us when they would have tests again, it is that bad. I went ahead and paid for the tests and said we would wait for them. Who knows how long.

We work with a law firm located in Asheville that processes tax foreclosure properties for our county and counties across NC. Their office was located right near the devastated arts district. I imagine they will be behind on foreclosure processing for a while.

Some of my clients that are local to us had to reach out for support because they have been indirectly impacted by Helene. They lost remote employees, loved ones, warehouses, business resources, etc.

Debris, waste and toxins washed down river into other states. That will clearly have a negative impact in places where Helene did not even happen.

This guy here brings to light a lot of the problems I have been seeing myself:

In this video I talk about secondary impacts that nobody is really thinking or talking about after natural disasters namely Hurricane Helene. There are busin...

What are you doing today? Tomorrow? You could be helping Josh and I, to help others instead of drinking an expensive Starbucks coffee, getting your nails done, renting a movie, buying an $8 bag of Halloween candy, spending on something you don't truly need right now. You could be sharing our post instead of watching more useless Internet videos and memes. We only have 4 days left to raise funds and collect supplies and the silence here is deafening. Are you all ok? Do I need to come check on you?

They recently found another 3 dead bodies in Minneapolis, NC. They are now experiencing a wave of illness due to the unsanitary conditions and stress. They are reporting a huge drop in donations and support and still have a massive amount of cleanup and people living in tents that lost their homes. Many businesses and homes that are left still need gutted, secured and mold remediation.

Donate $5. Ship us a couple 2x4 boards or a piece of plywood from Lowes. Every little thing counts.

To the very few of our friends and family that took the time to listen, care and make donations... it really means a lot to us. It shows us that not only do you care about others, but you love and trust us to do right by them as well. Thank you for your sacrifice that may help to get someone out of a tent and back into a home.

Contact us for the mailing address if you would like to ship supplies. But they must arrive no later than 11/1/24.

Secure donations can be made here:

We will be traveling from Walnut Cove, NC to Minneapolis, NC on Saturday 11/2. This is one of the many areas devastated by hurricane Helene. They are still suffering, there are still many homeless and in severe need. People living in tents and houses that are severely damaged. The cold mountain temperatures are making the situation worse. And many people are still missing.

Major news and media outlets are not covering this enough for this area. We need to spread awareness!

We will be meeting up with Renovate Life Church of God from Ohio and family members to drop off much needed supplies and help with labor. They have a contact at the local church that everything is being coordinated with. So we have current, up-to-date information on what the people in this area need.

This group is bringing some heavy equipment with them because many roads are still impassable. Heavy equipment is needed desperately! As many of you know, Josh and are a very hands-on couple, capable of construction related repairs, forestry, demolition and cleanup. So we intend to lend some quality help to those that need it.

If you would like to caravan with us or meet us there to offer additional support, contact us to coordinate. Everyone is welcome to join!

We will be loading up our F150 with an enclosed bed and our 10 foot trailer (4 foot side walls and ramp) with supplies, chainsaws, fuel containers and tools. We would like to gather as much as we can to take with us. We want to make the most of this trip, so we are asking for donations. If you would like to contribute supplies, I can meet up with anyone that is around the triad NC area, or you can have items shipped to us. If they do not arrive in time for this trip, we will make another trip. We are only 3 hours from Minneapolis. Mail donations to:

PO Box 541

If you need a physical address, contact us for that.

If you would like to make a cash donation, you can do so on our website.

Allison (Red Feather) and Laura (Bushel Barns) have been working wonders with Tilly! They finally gained enough trust to remove that awful auction tag from her tail. Yay!

Tilly is now seeking out affection and following Laura around. They are working on haltering and leading. Check out their latest post below.

Red Feather Equine Sanctuary is a non-profit horse rescue. They do not take in horses for the purpose of re-adopting them out. They take in horses to live with them forever (with rare exceptions of volunteers adopting them). This is why I chose to reach out to them and not anyone else.

I had hoped to keep Tilly at Soak Creek Farm Pastures & Stables and although they loved Tilly, they already have their hands full with other horses they have rescued (they are a rescue as well).

We got lucky with Red Feather because they were also on the verge of not having space as well, but they were able to work it out last minute.

When we turned Tilly over to Red Feather, we did so with a large donation to help with Tilly's first month of boarding and training. But now Tilly will be needing x-rays of her legs, vaccinations and a health exam from the equine vet. Plus life-long training.

Please help Red Feather to help Tilly by becoming Tilly's sponsor or making a donation, if sponsoring is not an option for you. Be sure to Like and Follow their page to get regular updates on Tilly's progress and share their posts.

I am planning to personally continue to visit Tilly and remain her friend for life! Thank you to all of our friends, family and followers that care and offer support! We love you all! 🥰

NO LONGER A NUMBER

After a week of short daily training intervals, Laura was able to remove Tilly's auction tag. They have started working on haltering and being introduced to a lead line. Teaching a prey animal with a natural flight instinct to be restrained takes a lot of patience and trust-building; it is not a process to be rushed.

I WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND why people treat animals the way Tilly, and so many others, are treated. Why would you allow breeding if you aren't even going to handle the foals or show them any care whatsoever? Was it just to make a few bucks at an auction? Tilly is not an item for sale, she is not disposable, and her life matters. Removing her auction tag is another step toward Tilly having the life she deserves.

Finally, Tilly is in need of monthly sponsors!!! We have multiple sponsorship options to fit a variety of budgets. More info can be found on our website on the "Get Involved" page. Sponsorship is vital to our program and will help cover Tilly's long-term training and medical needs.

Thank you for being part of Tilly's care team with us 🤍
