Urban Tails Cat Rescue Pittsburgh based cat rescue. For donations to the cause: Venmo: Every street cat has a tail to tell. Tears are shed for them.

The characters in their stories include the humans who failed them and the humans who saved them. For the ones lucky enough to be RESCUED, their story will end with happily furever after. For those who must return to the streets, they will return to caregivers fixed and vaccinated (TNVR) so that they are healthier and not contributing to the cat overpopulation crisis. Sadly, some cats will never g

et a happy furever after. Their rescuers were too late to save them. For the ones who cannot be saved, their rescue story ends with being shown love and compassion. When possible, their suffering is eased and their paw is held as they cross the rainbow bridge. For most of the cats we meet, we will never know the beginning of their story, but we will help them to rewrite the end of their tail. The tails you are about to hear are true. Only the names have been changed to protect the innocent. These are the Urban Tails.

This past week, 6 Dravosburg cats went to the HARP spayathon to get fixed and vaccinated, including 4 males and 2 females. One adult was released back to his colony and the 5 others are older kittens that will be headed to foster homes. There they will partake in kitten boot camp to be socialized and turn from spicy to nicey.

After hours and hours of trapping over the course of numerous days, a lot of strategizing, and a great coordinated effort on the part of several neighbors, this Dravosburg female was FINALLY trapped. This girl is now named Sassy and she frustrated us immensely with her trap savvy smarts and sass. Persistence paid off! We are so grateful for the neighbors who came together to assist in this task. Sassy will now be free to live her best cat life as a fixed colony cat, no longer contributing to the cat overpopulation crisis.

Last week, we trapped a mama and daughter duo a few minutes from the large colony we are working on in Dravosburg. Mama was fixed and released back outside, as she is feral. The little one, named Luna, has made herself right at home with her foster. It’s hard to believe that just a week ago, Luna was living outside afraid of human contact. Now she can’t get enough love and cuddles. She will be available for adoption very soon!

Three more females from Dravosburg have been fixed, vaccinated, and returned to their colony. These ladies make 11 total cats fixed from this colony, which prevents hundreds of kittens from being born outside.

We have made a HUGE impact in this neighborhood, but there is more work to be done and we are still looking for donations to help cover vet costs, which can range from $65 to $100 per cat. Donations of any amount are so helpful.

Meet Tom. This Dravosburg male was in rough shape, suffering from severe ear mites. Trying to find relief, he scratched himself so much, that he caused a hematoma on his one ear, and created open wounds on his head. He was trapped, fixed, vaccinated, treated for ear mites, and given an antibiotic to help heal his skin. After an extended stay with us, he has made a healthy recovery and was able to be returned to his colony.

Tom makes 8 cats fixed from the Dravosburg colony. Thank you for the donations we have received so far! We have a handful of cats left to fix and are still looking for donations to help cover these costs.

Happy National Kitten Day! While we have been hard at work in Dravosburg doing TNR to prevent the birth of more kittens into this world, this little guy showed up to a neighbor’s house. He was quickly scooped up, as he is suffering from an upper respiratory infection. As soon as he is well enough, he will be fixed, vaccinated, and available for adoption. No more outdoor life for this little one!

We have been hard at work fixing a colony of cats in Dravosburg. This colony is a secondary colony to the one we fixed 2 years ago. These 2 lovely ladies were returned to their colony this weekend after getting fixed and vaccinated. We were thrilled to trap these females and be able to prevent the needless births of hundreds of kittens. We estimate this colony has about 15-20 unfixed adults. Donations are very much needed to help cover the cost of this project, which ranges from $65-$90 per cat. The cats thank you!

Here’s another darling cat just waiting for his furever home. This guy was hanging out on the streets near one of our foster’s homes. Our friends at Oakland TNR Coalition took him into their rescue, got him fixed and he is available for adoption through them. If you are looking for an energetic dog loving cat, check out Garlic!

It’s everyone’s favorite seasoning — Garlic!

Somehow this silly little vegetable hasn’t found his forever home yet! He’s a mischievous, goofy fella that loves to get into trouble.

At just about 10 months old, he is as playful as can be. He would do okay with a very rambunctious cat, but a home without other kitties and an energetic doggo he play and cuddle with would be most ideal!

Check out Garlic’s Petfinder profile and apply to adopt today!
