Officer Brian Armstrong of the Forest Hills Police Department started the K9 program in 2003. He held fundraisers and sold t-shirts to raise enough money to purchase a dog and equipment. K9 “Nomos” joined the department and quickly became a celebrity in the area. In 2005 “Nomos” was diagnosed with a ruptured vertebrae in his neck and was retired from duty. So again, Officer Armstrong began fundrai

sing to purchase another dog to keep the program alive and serve the local communities. In 2006 K9 “Loki” joined the Forest Hills Police Department. He is a 9 year old Belgian Malinois that was imported from the Netherlands and trained at Shallow Creek Kennels. “Loki” is an invaluable member of the department. He has played a key role in numerous substantial drug arrests and has made countless apprehensions of fleeing suspects. Last year, “Loki” led officers to a homicide suspect that was hiding in a yard after committing an armed robbery. “Loki” also makes appearances and demonstrates his skills at various functions throughout the year. He can be seen at the Forest Hills Main Park every year during the 4th of July celebration.
