Homeless Cat Management Team

Homeless Cat Management Team The Homeless Cat Management Team works to humanely reduce the population growth of homeless cats thro We do not provide relocation or adoption services.

Our program focuses on Community Cat, (otherwise commonly known as feral and stray) Colonies, and friendly kitties rescued from these colonies to be placed into loving homes. Responsible "Outside" cats caretakers must provide food, water, shelter and veterinary care when necessary, to the felines they feed. We do not operate an animal shelter. Our high volume spay/neuter clinics include the follow

ing:
Spay/neuter surgery for cats and kittens (This includes a preventative antibiotic, anesthetic and IV pain medication). Rabies vaccination for all cats over three months of age. This service is included in the Feral Cat Package. Rescue cats will incur an additional $8.00 charge for this service to defray our cost. Frontline treatment for fleas, grooming to remove fleas, ticks, ear mites, matted fur, etc. Mandatory left ear-tipping for spayed/neutered feral cats being re-released, for ease of recognition

Pittsburgh CAT🎉🐾 Giving Tuesday is just one week away!

This year is extra special, HCMT is celebrating 25 years of spaying, neutering, rescuing, and protecting Pittsburgh’s community cats. For a quarter of a century, we’ve been helping caretakers, reducing overpopulation, and giving thousands of cats safer, healthier lives.

As we look to Giving Tuesday & to the next 25 years, plan a simple but powerful gift: $25 in honor of our 25th anniversary!

Wonder how our cats go from rescue to adoption?

HCMT works with volunteers and community cat caretakers to spay/neuter cats in their areas. Sometimes cats are too ill, injured, or too friendly to re-join their colonies.

With our sister organization, Pittsburgh CAT , we assess kittens and friendly felines for socialization and adoptability. If we have the space, after spay/neutering and administering age-appropriate vaccines we look for foster placement with our network of volunteers. Once the cats have recovered and spent time socializing with humans, we work to find them homes!

Be sure to follow Pittsburgh CAT to see our adoption ready feline friends!

PS: You can help cats like Trevor by saving the date to give on December 2nd, Giving Tuesday!

Spay day vibes!

There are just a few clinics left this year!

🐾 Reminder- we DO NOT schedule through social media! Follow the instructions below:

ALL CLINICS WILL BE HELD AT THE NEW LOCATION: 1627 Union Ave, Natrona Heights, PA 15065.

Must register for clinic--no walk-ins!
Caretakers and cat guardians MUST pre-register. To register, email [email protected] or call 412-321-4060 and follow the prompts. You will receive an email or call confirming your spot.

🐾 By Email : Email [email protected] with your name, number of spots you need and which date you are registering for. You will receive a confirmation email ONLY if you are registered.
🐾 By Phone: To register, call 412-321-4060 and follow the prompts. Mailbox # 3 is for Fast Track and mailbox # 5 is for No Charge clinics. Please include your name and phone number in your message. Someone will return your call and complete your pre-registration.

Feral cats must arrive in a standard humane box trap (Havahart, Safe-guard, Tomahawk, Tru-Catch, etc.) for the safety of all involved.
Pet and owned cats can arrive in carriers, one cat per carrier. They will be placed back in their carrier or trap for recovery after surgery.

🐾 🐾 FERAL vs PET CAT (please read!) 🐾 🐾
HCMT treats both feral cats and pet/rescue cats.
- A FERAL is a cat that will be returned to the outdoor location where it was trapped after surgery and WILL receive a mandatory ear tip.
- A PET is a cat that either has been or will be adopted as a pet after surgery.
- ONLY FERAL cats are eligible for No-Charge clinics.
- Both feral and pet cats can be treated at Fast Track Clinics.
- FAST TRACK CLINICS are for any cat who needs a low-cost spay or neuter.

If you follow Pittsburgh Prison Cats you probably saw that they proactively relocated their colony due to potential changes at the prison site. HCMT and Pittsburgh CAT are proud to play a small part in helping with this process.

Thank you to all of the prison colony caretakers who supported these kitties for so many years, making sure they were always fed, healthy, and safe.

TNR Doesn't Have to Be Scary! 👻

Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) can seem scary, but with the right guidance, you can make a difference in your community! Here are five tips to get you started:

1️⃣ Start Small: Begin with a manageable area or a specific colony. Focus on getting the cats spayed/neutered and ear-tipped.

2️⃣ Build a Team: Collaborate with groups and community members. Check out the "Pittsburgh Feral Cat" page to see if someone might already be aware of the colony or nearby to help!

3️⃣ Get the Right Gear: Invest in humane traps, carriers, and warm, safe spaces for the cats during transport. Safety first for both you and the cats! Some local vets (and Animal Friends) have traps you can rent!

4️⃣ Partner with a clinic: Look for low-cost clinics in your area to help get the colony fixed! Make sure they accept ferals before securing appointments! Check out our clinic schedule, Frankie's Friends, or Fix Ur Cat.

5️⃣ Keep Records: Track the cats you've TNR'd, including what they look like, their spay/neuter dates, vaccines, and any health issues. This helps with future care and monitoring!

TNR saves lives, improves community cat welfare, and doesn't have to be scary! It takes a village to help and TNR is the first step!
