Feline Resorptive Lesions (FRL) also known as Feline Odontodastic Resorptive Lesions (FORL) is a dental disease specific to cats. It is estimated that 70% of cats over 5 years old have at least one tooth affected by FRL. These lesions work their way through the tooth causing pain to the patient. The only treatment is to extract the affected tooth allowing the patient to live a pain-free life. The cause of this painful disease is unknown but to properly diagnose and treat FRL, cats should have their teeth checked by their veterinarian at least yearly. Regular dental cleanings with dental X-rays are also valuable tools for diagnosing FRL. Call us today to schedule an exam for your kitty!

Last week Pip ingested a potentially fatal dose of medication. Thanks to Pip's dad's quick action, we were able to induce vomiting and account for the ingested pills. After fluid therapy and lots of TLC, Pip's bloodwork showed no damage had been done. We recommend that if you ever even suspect your pet has ingested something potentially toxic, contact us immediately to determine the next steps!
