I was going through some old photos and came across this video I took of when Scott sent me 15 of the 16 original 2013 banded McKinney imports which I got from him in 2019. (Excluding the West of England Tumbler of course). Several of these are the parents of the few offspring that, through breeding-proven, have become the foundation of the birds I fly today. Ironically, and much to my surprise still to this day, in the one year that I bred from them, I didn’t stock a single bird that I bred from the imports. Weird, but true. Two of the original 2013 cock birds in this video I still have and both still fertile. The only ash red (221-13) in this group is the father to my foundation 9318-18 cock bird.
So today I decided to go through the old hen and old cock kits and pair a half dozen pairs up for a quick one round. The first three old hens I grabbed are full sisters. You’ll hear a lot of 9318 mentioned and some other band number talk that will be interesting to some of you.
Cold super wet drizzly day, late hatch kit getting an air bath.
And so it begins! Let the chaos and mayhem ensue! #rollerfactory2025
Three weeks off. Old hens still got some sauce. Bitter cold and rainy today. Decided to try and fly the old girls after not being flown for several weeks. Here’s the first five minutes before my hands froze 🥶. Gotta love breaks behind the trees 😂.
Tis the season! Time to kick start the 2025 breeding season! I still have four more red/yellow pairings and three more black/andalusian pairings to put together but I’ll have to wait until after the National for most of those.
Awesome day today at the NorCal Pigeon Fanciers Winter Classic! I was fortunate to win Champion Old German Owl with a Blue T-Pattern OH and my Best West of England Tumbler Black Bald OC went on to be chosen Grand Champion of the entire show! Thanks to everyone for coming and participating. It’s always great to see all of our pigeon friends for our last show of 2024.
Beetle green black sheen!
West of England Tumbler pairing up decision day.
West of England Tumbler pairing up decision day. I put ten pair of black/andalusian and six pair of red/yellows together or on paper today for 2025. Too many pairs but it’s hard to let good birds sit out a year 😂
I miss flying the old birds already!
I miss flying the old birds already! Flashback to just before my WC finals fly. #bangin #hammerdrop
