Our pack walk this morning was a blast!! My brother’s family dog, Kona, is visiting. She is the English crème golden.
Fun fact: Eleanor and I used to live in a tiny town in WY. I was there for three years total and Eleanor joined me in 2020. We left at the end of my contract in 2021. She LOVED it and I often found her curled up in the snow rather than in her cozy bed. 😊
Mama Eleanor is getting her stamina back! 💪🏼 Harriett and her are best friends and love playing together. She still is lacking in her normal muscle mass but that takes months to recover from. She is also very ‘bald’ or another term is she ‘blew her coat’. This is very common after babies and also takes months to recover from. I am going to keep up my track record of continuing to educate on this platform so with that being said: please make sure breeders are not doing back to back breedings. How will you know? If they just had a litter, and their next litter is roughly 4-6 months out from the day they were born with the same mom. This would be a next heat cycle breeding which is termed back to back. The biggest reasons for this are: Not enough recovery time (think human postpartum). Increased risk for Eclampsia (milk fever). The body doesn’t have ample time to restore the loss of bone Calcium that is needed for birth (muscle contractions of the uterus, heart, body muscles). The bones are a reservoir of this essential mineral and without enough it can lead to serious issues for mom. It is more common in small breeds than large breeds but any breed can be at risk. These are my big ones. These reasons may seem insignificant to people but to me it’s about mom and her well being first and foremost. I would not want to increase her risk for anything and being in good physical condition is so important for a smooth delivery and recovery. 😊 Hope this was helpful information and something I always look for when researching for a new puppy.
He deserved a permanent place on the feed 🔥
Go home bags are packed and my heart hurts a little. They start their next adventure soon, but for now I’ll soak in all the cuddles 🥰🐶 going to miss these babies but oh so excited for them to be with their new families ❤️
Busy day at the vet before they leave me next week 😢 Everyone has a clean bill of health. ❤️🐶 I have warned my puppy families that I will be a puddle of tears handing them off. I will miss each one so much they have been the most squishy, loving babies.
