When I started Panda from arena-green last year, I did so with the plan to produce a fun, all-around horse…a horse that could do a range of things without too much fuss or drama.

And what fun it has been! ❤️❤️

This year Panda has been to multiple dressage shows, a couple of H/J shows, sorted cattle, shown in his first Hunter derby, schooled the jumper ring at Lamplight, been barrel racing and gaming, schooled cross country (including FVSA’s new water complex), been trail riding, filled in from time to time in our lesson program and ground work classes, and been ridden by a 10 year old to multiple blue ribbons in the novice speed classes at the KCHA Fun show.

He is also LOVES to be brushed and fed treats.
And being a gray he is definitely an “all-around” grooming project 😃

What a great time we had at the Market Hill NIHJA at Lamplight this weekend! With a mix of green and established horses and riders, and one horse also competing at the IDCTA schooling show championship show just down the road, we certainly had our hands full!

Monica and Chet won the 2’6” jumper classic, along with other ribbons ❤️ Brittany showed jumpers for the first time, riding Wall Strret Z, with super roynds and ribbons! She also rode and ribboned in the hunters ❤️ Evelyn advanced to the Long Stirrup division and earned several ribbons in her classes and classics with Teddy ❤️ And Victoria rode in the pro classes - Wall Street Z and Chet in the jumpers and Panda in the hunters.

Sparrow jumping confidently through the water complex at his first trip cross-country schooling a couple of weeks ago ❤️

When possible, we try to give our hunter/jumpers and lesson horses a basic introduction to cross-country fences to broaden their experiences. This cute little horse has an engaging personality and is a lot of fun! 🐎🐎🐎

Our riders had a wonderful time at the Kendall County Horse Association’s Fun Show on Saturday ❤️ Thanks so much to the KCHA for the warm welcome! This was such a fun and educational experience for our riders, many of whom were riding at their first-ever horse show.

While we are primarily a hunter/jumper program, we love to offer our riders varied experiences so they csn develop their horsemanship skills, connect with the broader equine community, and acquire a larger pool of knowledge on which to advance their riding and horse care journey. As such, we offer occasional, informal, games classes for our riders and so I was delighted at the interest in taking this a step farther and attending this show.

Thank you to all who helped out or stopped by to support our riders. It was wonderful to see you all! ❤️

And thank you to the organizers and the other competitors who offered our riders help, support, and made them feel so welcome ❤️

Teddy and Sparrow had a super afternoon cross country schooling at FVSA on Wednesday ❤️ Both horses are much-loved and a joy to have at the farm. They have part leasers that love them, are ridden by our lesson students, and learned to jump in our training program.

We like to give our horses diverse experiences so they can find activities they enjoy and that suit them. These two cuties have also shown hunter-jumper, been ranch-sorting, enjoy trail riding and spend time doing ground work. This year Teddy went to his first dressage show (and came back with a blue ribbon).

We would like to thank the Fox Valley Saddle Association for making these schooling days available. We always have a great time and appreciate the many opportunities they and their volunteers provide for horses and riders alike ❤️

What great morning yesterday and today! Riders at all levels were succeeding at new things and enjoying being at the barn and caring for their horses ❤️🐎.

Cailin (Stanley) and Brittany (Wally) worked on developing their jumper rides with a focus on combination fences.
Our adult class at 9 am saw everyone having their best day, with each rider’s focus on flatwork paying off with super rides over fences.
And our youngest riders at 10:30 worked on various strategies for brushing horses so that our equine partners can stay healthy and look their best. There was a very competitive walking race in that class too, with all of the horses and riders rising to the challenge.
