My little Lucy (RIP) was a rescue, we spayed and vaccinated her with the intentions of finding her a forever home but she stayed with us. In September her little body quit fighting the cancer that was diagnosed 11 weeks earlier and she passed in the arms of my son. She will forever be loved and missed.

Some of you might remember Porch Pig?! She came back to me after 4 years because she became aggressive and territorial.
Her owners designated a 10 x10 room in the house and the kitchen as her area and when they entered she would charge . After about 4 weeks of being a pig outside all aggression issues ended and we are able to adopt her out. Pigs need to be pigs, they need to have firm but fair boundaries and owners need to be consistent with those boundaries. The only aggressive pigs I have had are those who came back with issues. Note: we have close to 80 pigs and I can walk up to my big boats and administer injections and handle their feet and tusks, no issues. Most people think boars have to be aggressive, no they do not . And yes, Joe held her down while I fixed her feet.

One more quick story before the sun decides It needs to come up and we have to start our day.

Penelope! A lot of people know of Penelope, thanks to social media. This girl is half mini and half KuneKune and is a crowd pleaser!! She will do tricks for you, well if you have treats! No treats? No tricks, she’s a stinker.

Penelope was originally from the ranch, her mama is Angel who is retired from here and her papa was a young sneaky KuneKune and she’s the product of this midnight match 😁

Penelope was sold to a loving home who found themselves in a bind when mold was discovered in their home so we said we would board Penelope here while they we’re temporarily displaced and their home repaired. After many months passed her owners reached out and decided Penelope wasn’t coming home and of course by that time I was attached and welcomed her here forever!

Penelope absolutely is a flirt with Joe and .... firefighters! During the Zogg Fire she would flirt with every single one of them 😍

This was my visit to Houston Mini Pig Rescue in Houston Texas with Patty and Maegan .... these amazing ladies have been such an inspiration and helped tremendously when Pinkies “seller” neglected and left the pigs behind to starve and die in Badtrop, Texas, not once but twice!! These ladies stepped in to help .... we aspire to be as amazing as these ladies https://www.houstonminipigrescue.org/

We want to share some of the stories behind the pets now living here and how they came here.... you guys will see how big our desire to help these animals has become , we all
Start with my girl Pinky, our co-founder

Pinky not only started my journey breeding for smaller minis but also my wheels about a piggy sanctuary started about 5 years ago because of this girl. Not only is she a survivor of the Zogg Fire but she was shipped from a horrible place in Bastrop Texas that later was shut down because of abuse and neglect.

Pinky came to me as 40 pound bred mini pig to never exceed 40 pounds... well the kennel at the airport was not 40 pounds when I picked her up! It was easily 75-80 pounds and Pinky cost me a whopping $2400 plus shipping 😓 But like all of our pets, I fell in love.

I later discovered that Pinky didn’t even belong to the lady who sold her! Pinky survived a barn fire and was taken to Lina to hold while their place was rebuild ( she has been through 2 fires). So at this point I knew I had no genetic history on Pinky and probably was going to be too big for our breeding program and she could retire and live here happily ever after.

Pinky actually didn’t end up too big, in fact she stands about 17”, her mohawk raises at the mention of her voice and she spends most her day napping with her best friend Safflower. She is too old to breed and although 17” is a nice size for a miniature pig we figure this old gal deserves to retire. She’s made 3 moves with me and her next move will be into the new sanctuary section of the ranch ❤️

Welcome to our first stage of Pinkies Piggy Paradise. A sanctuary for old, retired and non adoptable and adoptable pigs and farm friends. Over the years we have taken in many unwanted pigs and farm animals and successfully adopted many out and have many that have stayed with us for years and will never leave. This new venture in our life has come after the Zogg fire which swept through 85% of our property but our homes were spared and our animals. During this time we volunteered countless hours to our community taking care of pets, wildlife and livestock that belonged to our less fortunate neighbors who passed in the fire, lost everything they owned or were unable to come back into the fire zone. My husband is an ex-firefighter who stayed behind to save the animals and home and later returned to get me and my brave son ( with Chief Scott from Modoc County) to continue to fight the fires all through the night and continue to save our animals. The next morning when we started looking around we saw a need and without question we started caring for these animals that needed our help. I have always taken in and cared for less fortunate animals and Joe is an animal lover too so after this tragedy we decided to take the next step and open a portion of our ranch permanently to the less fortunate.
