Please join Center for Earth Ethics and the Thomas Berry Foundation for a special ceremony at Union Theological Seminary honoring Oren Lyons with the Thomas Berry Award. The ceremony begins at 4:30, with a reception to follow. Doors open at 4.

Chief Oren Lyons has been a leading voice on Indigenous rights and Earth Ethics in national and international forums for decades. He is a Faithkeeper of the Turtle Clan of the Onondaga Nation of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and was a founding member in 1977 of the Traditional Circle of Elders and Youth. He is also a champion lacrosse player, celebrated artist and professor.

The Thomas Berry Award recognizes an individual or organization that has implemented outstanding environmental programs or has engaged in reimagining the human-earth relationship through scholarship or the arts. It was first conferred in 1998 and has a total of 25 recipients including acclaimed musicians, scholars, spiritual leaders and leaders of international foundations.

This event takes place in James Chapel. Please enter at 90 Claremont Avenue.
