Many have wondered why Legacy doesn’t have any foals on the ground yet.
Well, there’s many reasons why.
The main reason, is that for the past six years, the owners of JRs Legacy of Naborr, have been busy building a new house, shop for their business JRs Gentle Hills Custom Metals & Farm JRs Gentle Hills Farm & Custom Metals, as well as a wellness/rehabilitation facility with indoor riding arena for their business JRs Equine Spa & RetreatJRs Equine Spa & Retreat.
When they took on those projects, they knew they wanted to do the work themselves, thereby saving them over a quarter of a million dollars. Unfortunately, they are still building, and have not finished the breeding part of the facility, including the housing area for Legacy. Yep, that’s right. Legacy was actually being pasture boarded until his injury because the facility doesn’t have an area constructed for him.
The second reason, is that once the facility is completed, the owners would like to entertain the idea of showing Legacy, even though his prior leg injury will limit his potential.
The third reason, is that Legacy is only 13 years old and this line usually live well into their late twenties and older.
However, Legacy’s recent freak accident has proven to the owners that they need to take the advice given to them by many breeders, which is to get some semen frozen. This is something they plan to do once Legacy’s jaw has been healed.
Legacy’s breeding book for cooled shipped semen and live cover will be open in 2023.
