UPDATE: Mandatory Evacuations have been lifted and everyone has been allowed to return. Thank you to those who offered supplies and assistance. Let’s hope this is the last event this year.

Activation of ACART is currently in progress, and arrangements are being made at the Amador County Fairgrounds, specifically within the Spur Emporium building, to provide shelter for small animals belonging to individuals evacuated due to the 'Tiger' fire.

ACART held our monthly meeting at the A-PAL center where Susan Manning and her crew showed us the proper way to catch, handle and crate less than cooperative felines! Very informative training, thank you A-PAL!
It was hard to leave without a couple furry new friends💕🐱

Excessive Heat Warning!

Good morning, Amador County

Due to the Excessive Heat Warning the National Weather Service has issued, a Cooling Center will be opened from Wednesday, July 3rd through Sunday, July 7th. (Additional days may be added if the heat event continues). This Cooling Center will be at the Health and Human Services building located at 10877 Conductor Blvd, Sutter Creek, and will be open from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm daily. Amador County Social Services staff will be on-site to provide water and snacks donated by the American Red Cross.

You’re also invited to bring your household pet to this Cooling Center, and the Amador County Animal Response Team (ACART) will be on-site to help you kennel your furry friend while you cool off. Kennels will be on-site and water will also be provided for your pet.

Plymouth and Ione will also have their own Cooling Centers. Plymouth’s will be at City Hall (9426 Main Street) from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm from Wednesday through Friday, and Ione’s will be at the Ione Fire Department, Station 2, located at 600 Preston Avenue from 1:30 pm to 7:00 pm from today through Sunday. Also, you can always cool off at the Jackson Library and catch up on your reading.

In Recognition of National Volunteer Week- please help me thank the volunteers of the Amador County Animal Response Team (ACART). Since 2009, the volunteers of this non-profit organization have put in long hours housing animals when disaster strikes and people are evacuated from their homes. They train monthly to ensure they are providing the very best care possible when needed the most. They have been deployed and housed animals during several declared disasters in Amador County. If you live in the area of Amador County or neighboring counties, we are always looking for new members. To learn more or to donate to help this great organization, Visit the website at
