If you purchased a turkey from us, know that it is a heritage breed and will cook a little differently than your normal Butterball! They cook a little faster!

While I'm not really a Martha Stewart fan, this is the recipe most heritage breeders tend to lean towards.

The Cornish Cross have gone in for processing and are now ready! Average 5.01 pounds with the largest whole processed bird weighing approximately 6 pounds!

I have a few quarters (see photo) available for anyone wanting fresh chicken. Free range birds and processed at a state licensed facility.

5 weeks (Sat, May 6) with weights between 3.25 - 4.5 pounds.

Processing date is May 24th, so we've got just a few weeks to go.

Weighed two birds, one was one of the lightest and the other one of the heaviest. The third photo is of the heaviest bird in a pose that I just loved and made me laugh. 🤣

In their new home with about 4 weeks until processing. Weighed a couple and they are steadily growing at the largest being 2.5 #. This is a pound difference from Saturday.

Thanks to Shad Kleiner and Aviston Feed Mill for feed advice and batches of broiler feed. A great feed mill and feed specialist is a must for raising healthy animals!

This little guy is 4 weeks old in Monday and halfway through the growing season.

We're just waiting for it to warm up a bit more so they can go to the grow out pen outside and stretch their legs!

We started with 100 birds from Hoovers and are down to around 90ish. This wasn't the strongest batch of birds and the back and forth weather does not help. But they remind me of our first batch with their tenacity and what are you doing can I help and get in your way attitude.

Coming end of May will be 20 turkeys and 15 Dominique pullets! We are hoping to have turkeys available for Thanksgiving, stay tuned for more!

2.5 weeks old

We're down to 52 meat birds, but loss is always a factor when raising livestock. Sometimes their systems are not strong enough, sometimes it's human error. This was a mix of both and why we almost always hang our feeders and waterers-also to keep junk from getting in them.

These guys have now been separated into 2 tanks as they're outgrew being in one all together. Soon enough they'll go into their grow pen together again. But because of the switching weather we want to keep them as warm as possible now as their feathers are still growing in and will still have some form of heat in the grow pen as well as their feathers normally don't get as thick as our egg layers.

In the feeder: a mix of Purina Chick Starter and Broiler Feed mix from Tri-County Feed Mill and Shad Kleiner. It's always good to have a great feed specialist who can help with whatever feed and nutrition your livestock needs!

55 Cornish Cross chicks are now running the show!

Here we start them in an old water tank with fresh water and Purina medicated chick starter for a balanced diet.

Why do they look red? 2 reasons! One is the red heat lamp and two they are sprayed with a vaccination spray to prevent coccidiosis. We want to be sure every bird has the strongest start possible.
