Our current recommendations to keep your dog safe from this new affliction are as follows:
1. If at all possible, avoid taking your dog to places where other dogs frequent such as dog parks, boarding kennels, grooming facilities and dog friendly stores.
2. If boarding, grooming or being around other dogs is a necessity make sure your dogs are current on ALL respiratory vaccines. These include distemper, bordetella and canine influenza.
3. Any dog but especially those going around other dogs, seniors and the immuno-suppressed should start supplementing with an immune boosting supplement called Imuquin. It is available in clinic and through our online pharmacy. https://layfieldvetpocomoke.vetsfirstchoice.com.
