A super rare appearance, by Jesse, one of the shyest kitties alive. He decides when he wants to be petted, then comes up during meal time. If he doesn’t want to be headed, he comes up in the middle of the night to eat. ❤️❤️❤️

Baby Cora is doing awesome! Her eye is no longer red or inflamed and she still loves to run around and play. Her eye seems to be receding, and if all goes well it will just close and not pose any further problems. Leave some well wishes for her!

If you find an animal in distress, you are their best hope as you are right there. Know what to do to help.

If you see dogs being kept outside in danger in the elements, call animal control or police.

The temps are going to be extremely cold all over the country. Pets belong indoors.

Our Koda is home!! He is doing great right now and we are adjusting him to some lifestyle changes. He's not the biggest fan, but we're doing our best to make it easy on him. His bladder was full of "sludge" from the blockage, and with medication food and other diet changes we can try to prevent that from happening again! More blockages are likely, but we can only hope for the best. Keep our sweet man in your thoughts!

Koda had to be hospitalized this week following an emergency vet visit. Our awesome vet at Brown Creek Animal Hospital jumped right into action for him , and quickly diagnosed and rushed to treat him. We are so thankful for them!

Koda had a urethral blockage because of his kidney crystals, causing his bladder to swell to the size of a baseball, and blockages must be surgically treated. His kidney crystals will likely cause problems like these for the rest of his life, and the fact that he is having these issues at two years old is not great. He has had a catheter in for almost two days, and hopefully the catheter will come out today and he will be able to p*e on his own! We are very positive about his recovery, but this kind of thing will likely happen again and again. But we will keep fighting for him ❤️

Any donations towards his care and thoughts and prayers for his recovery are overwhelmingly appreciated. Koda is the heart of our rescue and the reason for our mission, and we love him so, so dearly.

KCR specializes in sick and senior animals, and we do our best to provide them with the happiest lives or temporary stays, but nothing great was ever accomplished alone. This sweet girl showed up at a friend's house last night while I was visiting and I couldn't turn her away. I almost started crying when I saw the condition she was in. Thankfully, she is FeLV negative, but she will still need intensive care for these first few weeks to get some weight on her and knock out the horrible upper respiratory infection she's dealing with.

Her left eye is completely blind, likely from a past injury/infection. She doesn't let that stop her though, she's as alert and active as I could ask for. The vet believes that eneucleation (eye removal) isn't needed, and she will be just fine with her little handicap. Hopefully she will live a long, happy, and playful life; she'll likely be staying at Koda's Critter Rescue with the rest of our special needs/senior residents.

Though we do rescue, we are not 501c3 yet and do everything out of pocket, and of course we picked the most expensive specialty. I'm extremely grateful for my friends and family who help me with funding and participate in my antics, and every vet trip or bill paid has been at their grace. Every bit counts. Especially my loving mother and sidekick who deals with the late night "I'm taking a cat" texts and never complains.

She's still missing a name, but she needs one that encompasses her strength and kindness despite her disadvantages.

Does anyone know me? I was found in Anson County and some sweet people have been caring for me!

Please contact us if you are missing this sweet boy! He was clearly loved and would like to go back to his family, he's very sweet. He will be scanned for a chip tomorrow, but should he not have one he will be in need of a new place to stay.

Throwback!

Trouble kitten Then vs. Now! He has grown so much and stolen all of our hearts ❤️

Due to unfortunate circumstances, Trouble will ultimately end up as a resident at KCR; he was exposed to a virus and will need testing and monitoring over the course of a few years. However, he has not shown any symptoms at this time and is still a happy, playful, destructive kitten. (His name is Trouble for a reason!)

Resident Spot kitty loves to relax on "her" porch. ☀️

Spot was surrendered to us by owners who could no longer take care of her about a year ago. She is a loving, sweet girl, but she had sustained permanent injury due to her pelvis being run over by a car and healing improperly. However, she started a wonderful recovery on her own before she came to us and gets around very well now! She is still able to run around and play with friends, just for shorter amounts of time.

We would not be able to care for sweet kitties like these if it were not for our supporters. Koda and friends thank you!

We paid a visit to Mac Tabby Cat Café and met some awesome kitties of all ages looking for forever homes! Thanks to a partnership with Humane Society of Concord & Greater Cabarrus County, these kitties get to have awesome interactions and enrichment while they wait for their new families to find them. Big thanks to them and what they do, make sure to check them out and give them a like for cat content!

We have a new buddy! He was found in the road, filthy and covered in fleas, and the nice people who found him brought him to us. He's an orange tabby, about 3 weeks old now. He's being bottlefed at this time! He doesn't have a name, though. Suggest some in the comments!

Resident Taco Cat is enjoying a lovely afternoon nap! Taco is a Maine C**n and he is a huge grumpy boy. He is about 7-8 years old, and one of the fluffiest cats we've ever had.
(No, those aren't boogers. That's just his coloring. 🙂)

Hello everybody! Meet this sweet little man, Seal! He is a Lynx/tabby point applehead siamese kitten. He is currently with us because of his owners going through a difficult time. He came with a few friends, as well! They will be posted later.

There are 9 types of siamese kitties, like the traditional applehead, such as blue points, modern wedges, and more. There are also color distinctions, such as with Seal, such as flame point and chocolate point.

Siamese kitties are typically very easily identified due to their piercing blue eyes and colorations, but some siamese cats can be a light orange-red color!

They are also notable for their chatty and friendly personality, but Seal is very reserved and prefers to chill on his own. However, he loves snuggles at night! We are hoping Seal does not have a long stay with us, and he can return to his forever home. Happy Tuesday! 🥰🐱
