Beautiful miss Nala JR, I mean Piper lol, has been returned to me. This was NOT an easy decision for her owner who still loves her very very much! She was only returned because her and birds DO NOT mix at all. May be searching for a new guardian home for her after I have her for a while and make sure there's no issues to work out. She's gets along great with other dogs, people, and cats. Very sweet and loving and attention driven lol

Loving how this boy is turning out! His Embark test shows he is clear of genetic diseases and his genetic coefficient of inbreeding is 10%! Which means he has high genetic diversity! Super excited to get his OFA testing done then he'll be ready to stud.

FUN FACT FRIDAY:
Today is about the history of the wonderful breed so many have fallen in love with.

First thing to know is the Great Dane is aka the Deutsche Dogge, which means German Mastiff. That's 2 interesting things in one because the breed is actually German and not Danish and is part of the Mastiff-Sighthound family. The breed is thought to have been around for more than 400 years and are descended from mastiff-like dogs that were bred by German nobility. 2 of the breeds used to create this wonderful breed was the English Mastiff and the Irish Wolfhound, others were used but we're not exactly sure what. In the 18th century, Great Danes were prestigious guardians of estates and carriages and were also popular with the upper class for sport, as few other dogs could bring down a wild boar.

The picture below shows an old painting of Great Danes taking down a boar, the colors portrayed seems to be a Fawn Harlequin(Fawnequin), a Blue Harlequin, and a white one which could be a Double Merle Harlequin or a Harlequin Piebald.

So I've realized that there is a lot of misinformation surrounding Great Danes, breeding, genetics, and so on. I believe as a breeder it is one of my duties to help inform the public with correct info because you can't fault anyone if they don't know any better! So I decided that every Friday is going to be Fun Fact Friday where I'll post info that I have found to be true that will also help inform the public! Keep a look out every Friday for a fun fact!!!

Visited this big handsome man the other day and I'm LOVING how he's turning out! 36" tall at the shoulders, one of the biggest heads I've seen on a dane, and the sweetest goofy personality there is! If I wasn't there for his breeding and birth then I'd swear he was Loki's son❤️❤️❤️
