Who needs fancy Agility Courses when your firewood piles and snow filled wagons will be the preferred apparatuses to use for enrichment? I could have saved myself thousands of dollars and hours of hard work if I had known this was all they would want or need 😑🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️😉🤣

🧑🏻‍🏫Crate training doesn't have to be a stressful experience for puppies OR their human counterparts. We work one on one with our puppies to give them an introduction to the crate before they go to their new homes. 🙂

• The crate is left open during the day, with toys and their favorite snacks provided for the puppy to see it as a micro den space. They "bunk" side by side, next to other older pups or adults that use their crates throughout the day to nap or hang out freely in. When napping, we will close the door in order to know when the puppy has woken up, so that we can take them immediately outside to potty as soon as they do - with high praise and a "cookie" for successful potties. ☺️

•At night, puppies sleep with a sibling or, in Aura's case, her mother in a crate to ease them into transitioning into being alone in a crate. (If you do not have a pack like we do to help in your training, ensure the puppy is crated beside you at night, and place an old sweatshirt or knotted sock that has your scent for them to sleep with.) They may still fuss because they see you and want to be with you. Provide them with a high value treat and a chewie to help relieve stress (a hoof, antler, etc.). Chewing is calming for your dog/puppy, which is why you may experience the after effect of a good chew session, with furniture that has chunks taken out, or chair legs that are whittled down 🫣🤣 (TRUST ME I HAVE BEEN THERE! ) 🙃

•In ~a week your puppy should be adjusting to this routine and recognize the crate as being a safe space for them to relax in. We recommend crating your puppy if you have to leave to run short errands throughout the day, (never use a crate to permanently confine your puppy while you go to work or are gone all day‼️ This will have the opposite effect; and create a dog that will be highly anxious, fearful, reactive AND destructive)

•We maintain the crating regimen until the puppy reaches adulthood; anywhere from 1-2 years of age, or until they can be trusted to be left unsupervised throughout the day and at night. Once they can be trusted to not do harm to themselves OR to your favorite pair of shoes and phone chargers? The crate can be optional. 😁 I have adults that still want to sleep in a crate at night and INSIST on it. In fact, it can be a competition as to who gets to sleep in one 🤣

👶🏻Just as in being a parent to a newborn, there is the same struggle in raising a puppy. The loss of a full night's sleep, the random fussing during the night, and potty accidents are a given, BUT are temporary! Given time, the reward to your being consistent AND patient will pay off and be so worth it!! ❤️

Two of our babies were welcomed into their new homes over the weekend! Rami, from the Rivet x Coata Litter; and Slater, from our L.E. x Buddy, Jan. 6th Litter ❤️ Rami will be sharing new adventures with her sister from Rivet x Coata's previous litter! 🥰 We are so happy for both of these kids AND their new families!! ❤️

Bio of HJ’s Aussies

~ HJ’s Aussies is a family ran Kennel located in Pomeroy, Ohio. We take great pride in raising FAMILY friendly AKC, ASCA, and ASDR Standard sized Aussies. ~

I have owned and raised both Australian Shepherds and Border Collies for almost 20 years combined, investing years learning the herding breed and determining which attributes best suited what we would want produced out of our Kennel. We are passionate about maintaining the integrity of the Australian Shepherd breed, with seeking only quality lines for our Program. My dogs are a blend of Showing and Agility/Working lines, making their puppies the perfect balance of beauty AND intelligence, without being high-strung or overly energetic. ALL of my dogs are our family pets, being free to live their lives alongside the family both inside AND outside. Retired dogs continue to live with us, enjoying the remainder of their days being pampered, lazy house dogs. We strive for excellence with our Program, and only pair together the ideal fit, to provide not only physically appealing pups, but ones that are well-rounded dispositionally, also. All Sires and Dams are genetic tested, have sound pedigrees, and are proven BET producers. Puppies are health guaranteed, with routinely administered worming and first round of vaccinations given before 8 weeks of age, dew claw removal and tail docking is also performed within the first 3 days after birth (unless buyer chooses to leave the tail intact) *SEE BOTTOM FOR MORE INFO

Puppies are born INDOORS with my family, and raised with my children where we ensure proper puppy protocols are established.
