If there is one thing about our family, it's we love food and everything involving food. We love to try new things and cook with what we have on hand. Most people would call us an ingredients household. I grew up in a prepackaged household while my husband came from an ingredients household. For our whole 13 plus years he has come up with random food ideas and it took me the longest time to figure out how to do that myself. We don't eat prepackaged food often now, if it's anyone it's me doing it 🤷🏽♀️ but that has taught me how to cook from scratch more, hence learning how to maintain and make sourdough. The cooking from the pantry has rubbed off on our children too. Its a random Thursday in July and this is the lunch my 10 and 14 year old sons made for themselves while I cleaned up my bread baking stuff.
It is left over spaghetti noodles from last nights dinner with sautéed onions, a pan seared tuna steak that was soaked in a homemade marinated, cooked and topped with a homemade teriyaki sauce, sesame seeds and dried chives. The marinated and teriyaki sauce was also made by the 14 year old. If he doesn't go to culinary school and become a chef he is really missing his calling, he loves to cook and it is always delicious.
What do you think of their quick and easy lunch?
