All of this is so true!! Some of this applies to simply bringing your child to lessons and allowing them the opportunity to work with such a beautiful animal! We have the best horse show moms and Grandmas 😉🥰

”Just a Horse Show”
This post is for the show mom. The mom who wakes up before the sun rises to braid hair and put in bows, to get their child dressed, fed, and to the barn so they can practice before their big day.
For the mom who maybe gets a little bit of an attitude from their child because her nerves are getting the best of her, for the mom who’s there to pick up their child when they have a fall or to encourage them that they can complete their course that they are a little bit unsure about, for the mom who claps at the side of the ring when the announcer calls out their child’s name for a ribbon regardless of the color, for the mom who waits to see their child pat their pony at the end of an amazing round, where everything they’ve learned came together.

I want to let you know that you are giving your child so much more than “just a Horse Show”.
You are giving them strength, you are nurturing them to believe in themselves even when things seem impossible to them. You are helping them create work ethic, you are allowing them to follow their passion, and you are helping them set goals for themselves and see it through!

Sharing the love of horses with my daughters is one of my greatest gifts, I feel so honored to be able to make these memories with them, like I did with my mom. I was so lucky to have a mom that did all these things for me as a child and I can promise you this, what she gave me, was so much more than ”just a Horse Show…”🤍

We haven’t posted much about our newest arrival who got to us just about a month ago on May 10th. “Shelby” became the newest member of the Live Oak crew and came to us all the way from Utah. Below is part of a post from Shannah, who briefly explains how this sweet girl ended up here to be Jayden’s newest addition.

“We started this process back in March when the wonderful Robyn Cates brought home her first 2 Mustangs through the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) TIP program! This beautiful girl was an untouched wild horse until her TIP trainer picked her up from a BLM location. Mrs Robyn then completed the “gentling” process (haltering,leading, trailering, and picking up feet). Once those things were learned then we were allowed to adopt her ❤️We will now complete all the training needed to make her a safe horse for anyone to ride. We will do all the ground work, manners, backing, getting her going under saddle and ultimately teaching/giving her a “job” doing something she seems to like!”

Jayden has been working with Shelby daily on her ground work and ground training, along with the help of Luis Guerrero, teaching her things such as lunging, ground driving, and responding to various other aids (for those that may not be familiar - this type of training does not involve any kind of riding, and is essential to establish before any horse is ever backed).
At almost exactly a month in, it was time for Shelby to experience her first time with any kind of weight on her back. As you can see from the video below, she takes everything in stride. We had no expectations or time limits on how long this was all going to take, but she is really giving this her all.

Congratulations to our Bryson Lee who will be graduating from South Effingham High School this evening!!
She has overcome more than most can imagine this past year, and against all odds pushed all the way through without skipping a beat.
Bryson, your courage, determination and pure strength has been an inspiration to all of us and we can’t wait to see you do more amazing things in the future.

Bryson (and Yaz!!) will be attending the University of North Georgia in the fall.
