Last week sweet Bradley boy was diagnosed with FIP, (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) Once was a fatal disease is now treatable within the last few years 🙏🏼💙🐾
In March I took Bradley to the vet for meds for an Upper Respiratory infection, since we were there I also had blood work done. He was negative for FIV/Felv. His 2 week follow up I thought he may have developed an ulcer in his eyes. The vet ruled that out and Bradley was then referred to a specialist in Rochester. At his appointment there they did another
Blood test and gave him some eye meds… after the test results came back good, we thought everything was going to be ok! I thought from the cloudiness in his eyes he was having a hard time walking… Well then he developed loss of control in his rear legs and started peeing uncontrollably. Then I knew something wasn’t right..
At his 2 week follow up the vet was 99% sure he has FIP.. even tho blood work came back ok, his symptoms where all there and he was declining..
Theres no time to wait, he has to start treatment right away or we can talk about euthanasia 😭. She informed me about this Facebook group (because the meds are hard to get) and not available thru your vets.
I cried the whole way home 😢
Well thankfully I reached out to the group and we were able to start treatment the following day! 💙🐾
Bradley has a long road to go and I never thought I’d have to give a cat injections, but here we are.. We will fight this!! Treatment is a minimum of 84 days and then an observation phase of another 84 days. Blood work being done every 30 days.
This is my favorite pic of Bradley!
