When I got my first corgi 29 years ago no one around here even knew what one was (fam went to show steer sale in Nebraska at Rocking J and came back telling me about these cute puppies and described them and I said that’s what I’ve been telling you I wanted for the last several years - one was on a cattle truck with a load of cows the next week 😂). I walked into Jimmy and Tana Duncan’s feed store and Ty said, “What happened to his legs?”

❤🐾❤🐾 at first glance this post may seem a little harsh, but it’s got lots of great reminders about why teaching your dog manners and obedience is extremely important for the health and safety of your dog and for that of others.

“Your dog's social etiquette is none of my business, even if he is really friendly. If my dog is on leash, take the cue, and keep yours away.

There are many reasons for a leash. Mine might be injured, under the weather, having a really bad day, or simply enjoying nature with me and with no care whether yours is friendly or not. It might not be my dog, or it might be a brand-new dog that I don't know how he will behave. However, we are total strangers to each other, and other than a polite 'Hello,' l do not owe you an explanation. Simply take my cue of my dog being on a leash, and respect my space by keeping yours away.

If you feel yourself wanting to call out "He is Friendly" as you see your dog's bum galloping away from you towards my on-leash dog that is now trapped, counter you urge to influence me, and instead, influence your dog by calling them back.

Every day with a corgi is a good one, except the last one. 😭

Oh Katcha, Mama Dog as I most often called you, you will be missed. You weren’t the most flamboyant personality, or the most photographed for things you did. You had gotten a little old and cranky, I couldn’t ever go to the bathroom without you escorting me, and you were the happiest just being lazy or getting treats. I loved how you would move your head under our feet to pet yourself if we hadn’t gotten to it, and boy, did you love ear licking sessions. You were the best foot warmer, an ever present calm, and always a good mama - even if they didn’t belong to you. You just wanted to be close to us, always, and you’ll always be in our hearts. 💕 Rest easy, Pretty Girl
