I serve on the AHA Awards Committee. For most of 2023 leading up to Convention, we worked on Awards programs to remove what many perceived were some inequities. One of those was equalizing the Achievement Awards points scales for Purebreds vs HA/AAs. Since practically the beginning, HA/AA horses have required only 75% of the points that Purebreds need to earn Legion of Honor+, Merit++, Supreme Honor+/, Supreme Merit+++, Excellence//+ and Masters++++. A horse that goes all the way with the required Performance and In Hand points is ++++//, as many of you are well aware, This change is effective for the 2025 competition year, per AHA Board Motion # 21–11/15/23-BOD meeting. If you have an HA or an AA that is close to an award level (we do!) 2024 is your year to get it done, so make sure so sign up and show that extra show this year! Another 2025 change in the works is a reduction of Dressage qualifier ACH points based on scores. Both the Dressage Committee and the Awards Committee deliberated long and hard on this one. As soon as I can get the AHA Minutes where this was approved (January 2024 meeting?) , I will post that here. I am not sure when AHA will update Website information, so I felt it necessary to inform our Club membership now.
