What brand of dog food would you like to see us carry? Currently we only have Science Diet and Diamond Naturals. If you feed your cats/dogs a special type of food let us know and we might be able to order it for you. This includes some fresh brands as well.

A fun filled weekend at the dog show, trade show and Barkleighs’s Grooming Seminars. So many things to see and learn! Plus lots of new supplies and equipment to buy. They used my Luka as one of their models for a class so he got a new look. It’s always a good thing to continue learning new techniques and safety in the salon and then to bring that knowledge back and utilize it. The weekend was a success overall! 🐾🐾 In addition, Miranda Escobar from Miranda’s Elite Grooming, LLC in Corpus Christi won 1st place in her division for Creative Styling. She is so talented and amazing, way to go Miranda!!!!! 🥇

Kinsley loves children and other dogs. There is a very minimal rehoming fee. They really just want her to go to a loving home. Please be aware that doodles need regular grooming every 6-8 weeks. WARNING: Long post

Four more months is what he gave me until his body finally told him no more. I know he would have kept going just for me out of love and because he always tried to please me. He was doing so well until his appetite slowed last week and he struggled to get up and down the ramp to the house. I knew all the signs but I was still in denial.

I didn’t want to say goodbye and I hoped he wouldn’t be mad at me for giving up. I had to make the decision yesterday that I had been dreading. He had cheeseburgers and fries and some chicken nuggets for lunch. I talked and snuggled with him and gave his smushy face lots of kisses. Then the vet came to the house. I held him and told him we loved him. I told him the next time he opened his eyes he would be in a brand new body with no pain and he was going to find his way back to me. And then he was gone. Even though he was gone his body was still on his bed in his room. The cremation place showed up and I held it together pretty good until they loaded the gurney into the van. I gave him more kisses and told him I loved him & said goodbye. They shut the doors but I wanted to tell them to be careful because he can’t walk very well. I wanted to be there to help unload him. I lost it when I walked back into my empty house. I went back to work but when I came home I couldn’t go inside alone. My life and daily routine revolved around him. He took my heart with him. Did I do enough for him as a pet owner? Does he think I gave up on him too soon? Was he ready? Does he forgive me? The guilt has set in.

This morning I talked to him like he was still there. “Wanna go outside? Let’s go potty!” I walked down the ramp and out into the yard. I gave him enough time to potty and walked back in but he wasn’t beside me. I cracked the curtains for him in his room so he could have a little sunlight in the day and look out the window like always. Again, he wasn’t there but I could feel him. Like always, I told him to have a good day and that I loved him and I went to work. Call me crazy but I didn’t want him to think I just forgot about him. The emptiness in my chest is heavy and the silence is so profound it’s deafening.

Bixby chose me plain and simple. He came into my life when I was feeling a little lost and searching for something. I didn’t know it right then but I clearly needed him more than he needed me. He was special and filled my heart. He was spoiled and loved and hardly scolded. He could do no wrong in my eyes and got away with so much. I am so grateful and it was an honor to be chosen by him and to have loved him. I hope I can be that lucky again for him to pick me in his next life. If you ever have a question about getting a dog my advice to you is “get the dog”. I miss him so much. It’s going to take me a bit to get over this one. Love you Bixby forever.
