A good dog tag on the collar with a current phone number can be worth its weight in gold. That’s what one now-happy dog owner learned when a Central Oregon firefighting task force found their pooch while battling the Golden Fire in Klamath County.

Friends, Will you please share our plea this morning?

We are still in search of an Old Dog Old Dog Haven Final Refuge Home to send this beautiful girl to. She is not adoptable at the shelter so she needs our help! She has a long road ahead of her with vetting and all vet bills will be covered by our organization (thanks to donations!). If you live in W. Washington state or Portland, OR., and are interested in joining our network of forever foster (aka Final Refuge, permanent foster) homes, please read through the link below and contact us! There is a process to apply to become a foster with Old Dog Haven.

https://olddoghaven.org/how-to-help/fostering/

PERMANENT Old Dog Haven FOSTER HOME NEEDED: Longhaired chihuahua, not yet spayed female, who weighs 7 pounds. This little one has a LOT of medical issues and will take both patience and care and a lot of vet visits.

Besides needing to be spayed when strong enough, she has two small mammary masses to be removed and one that seems more to be an infected cyst. Her ears are terrible and very painful now. She came into the shelter with live fleas so some coat damage, one eye is likely blind with a large cataract (which probably means daily drops). Lots of surgery ahead and we never know whether there will be more mammary masses after she's spayed. This happens when a dog is not spayed or spayed late in life.

She's missing part of her lower jaw from untreated infection due to lack of dental care. and will need a serious dental to save the rest of her mouth. Dogs can indeed eat with that condition, but it can be messy and require assistance.

Our volunteer at the shelter reports that she is easy to handle and willing to sit with you though very reserved; gaining her trust may take some time.

This little creature will be a project for sure; she is so in need of a friend and medical help. If you have room, time and patience we would love to hear from you.

Trace 💙 is a wonderful, vibrant, lovable, goofy, big good boy dog named Treister (Trace) who needs a new loving home. He's fixed and has had his shots , is 3 years old now and around 100+ pounds. We're unsure of what kind of dog he is exactly. A mix of some sort…Shep/husky?He's very smart, active and playful but also a good listener who could be trained to patrol a property, which can be helpful for security when living out in the country as he does now. He gets along well with cats and a mini dachshund he's lived with for 2+ years. His family has fallen on hard times and is losing their home and unable to find a place for trace. He is a big sweet boy that needs a loving home. apply at www.hopeshavenfriends.org

Carter is about to hit his three-month mark at our shelter. Yes, he has chronic allergies. Yes, he's a little smelly because of his chronic allergies. Yes, he gets frequent eye boogers. But are those reasons NOT to find him a good home? We didn't think so, either. Despite ZERO interest in him, Carter isn't letting it get him down. He's now moved to the coveted spot of "Office Dog" to make kennel space and to give Carter a break.

Carter's owner passed away and they were left in the house together for a couple of days until someone found them. The next of kin were not able to take Carter. This boy deserves a break!

What you see in this photo is what Carter pretty much does all day. He's five-years-old and neutered. He loves soccer balls and will carry them in his mouth. Carter would LOVE to be your one and only, but he might be tolerant of another calm dog.

Carter's adoption fee is $100 and includes microchip, current vaccines, flea/tick treatment, de-worming and dog license (for Marion County residents). If you'd like more information and to set up a meeting, please visit https://bit.ly/3S2Ocfk.

Meet Kacey! This handsome German Shepherd mix is estimated to be about 6 months old, and is such a sweet boy! He loves toys that make noise, and really enjoys chasing balls. Kacey is fostered in Vancouver, WA and has been learning so much with his foster family! He loves to play in the sprinklers or with the hose, and really enjoys water!

Kacey does great with other dogs, and has lived with several others. He has also been living with cats! Kacey is curious but nice to the foster cats. He is a very sweet boy, and has also been doing great with the kids he’s fostered with. Kacey is an active dog, and he’d love a family ready to continue his puppy training! He has already been doing great on his potty training, and seems to be a quick learner.

Does Kacey sound like the boy for you? He’d love to find his forever family! bit.ly/MilasMutts

Beautiful, shiny black lab Abbey is a 9 year girl who weighs 73 pounds. Described as a "very, very sweet, gentle kind spirit". Abbey is blind and needs an adoptive home with someone whose home is more suited to a blind dog. A home without too many stairs (if any) would be safest for her. As blind dogs often do, Abbey can learn to navigate new surroundings with time and smell.

Abbey has lived with other dogs and we are told she is appropriately social with those she meets. Because she is blind, a home with older, mellow dogs would be best for Abbey. She has lived with cats and we are told she does great with kids over 10 years old. Abbey loves people!

Abbey is very well behaved and rarely barks. Once she has adapted to her new home, we are told she can stay alone inside her home managing a few hours before she needs a potty break. Abbey is accustomed to hanging out inside her home, going outside just to do "her business" or lay in the sun when it's nice outside. Abbey can be playful at times, squeaking her toys but mostly she is mellow and enjoys laying on the floor with her people.

Before coming to her current owners, she was traumatized by her former owners putting a harness on her. It is uncertain what happened but we are told she is very afraid when a harness is put on her. Because of this, taking Abbey for walks is difficult. It could be her neck or back but one will need to work on this with patience and understanding for Abbey. Ideally Abbey can learn that she won't be harmed and having a harness and leash on means time for some fresh air and good times!

Abbey's owners will share vet records with potential adopters. She has some food sensitivities to some foods. She had an allergic reaction to her distemper vaccine last year. Recent blood work came back with one abnormal level. Abbey's adopter should have this rechecked. Her adopter should be willing, able and committed to affording veterinary care for the rest of her days. In return for a forever home with commitment, love and care, we bet Abbey is going to make someone very happy.

Abbey is located in Poulsbo, WA. For contact information please email: [email protected]

This is not an ODH dog; we urge potential adopters to do their own evaluation.

Hi there, I’m Andre! I’m about a year old and I’m a handsome 72 lb boy that is ready to find a family to call my own! My friends at Mila’s Mutts think I might be a German Shepherd and Great Dane mix. My very favorite toy is a tennis ball! But I do also like my chew toys and playing tug with a rope.

I’ve been doing great with my foster family, and I do well in my crate and I’m potty trained! I know how to sit, and I’m learning down and stay! I love other dogs, and I’ve done great with everyone I’ve met so far. I’m also doing really well with the dog savvy cats in my foster home! I love people, including kids, but I do have some excited wiggles and with how big I am I may do better with kids who are old enough to see me coming. I’m currently fostered in Portland, Oregon!

I’ve been working on my leash manners and I love learning new things when my foster parents say it’s training time! I’d love to find a family that would like to keep teaching me too. I have lots of love to give, and I enjoy cuddling with my people! You can also find me chilling in my favorite spot when you have things to do like work. Do I sound like the large loving boy you’ve been looking for? Please apply today! bit.ly/MilasMutts

Good Sunday Morning Friends. We are hoping you'll join us in starting this day off with a share of Princess, a lovely senior in need of an Old Dog Haven forever foster home.

PERMANENT Old Dog Haven HOME NEEDED (in W. Washington state or Portland, OR):

What a sweetheart! This pretty girl is a 22 pound spayed mix breed-could be cocker spaniel with something else?

We are told she is a friendly, active girl who gets along with dogs of all kinds though can be pretty assertive on first meeting so will need supervised introduction. Great personality! She is housebroken and well mannered. She has some heart disease that will need meds and access to a cardiologist (Tacoma/Olympia/Vancouver/Portland would be ideal, ask about other areas).

If you'd like to offer this girl a forever foster home as an Old Dog Haven forever foster, please read through the link below and contact us:

8 year old BamBam is a handsome boy who is ready to find his forever home. He is loving and gentle and bonds quickly with his people. Whether it's helping his foster mom in the garden or going on short walks, he is ready to go. This gentle boy would love a family that will include him in their plans. BamBam weighs 45 pounds.

BamBam will need a home without a lot of stairs because he has some weakness in his rear end. He will also need a fully fenced yard because he loves going on 'adventures.'

BamBam is playful and in typical 'working dog' fashion, loves the ball!
BamBam is presently living with dogs and cats in his foster home. He has shown that he doesn't mind sharing his space with calm, respectful dogs but because he wants to chase the cat, a feline free home would be best. A home without children would be best for BamBam because their movements can often be quick and unpredictable.

BamBam is posted for Save-A-Mutt Rescue. He is being fostered in Snohomish County, WA. For more information about BamBam, please submit a Save-A-Mutt adoption application. Applications can be found at www.save-a-mutt.org
This is not an ODH dog; we urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.

We need to start this day off sharing Mocha! She’s a cross post for our friends at Save-A-Mutt. We honestly can’t believe she is still available for adoption. She sounds like a terrific dog!

8 year old Mocha is a beautiful senior lady who is dreaming of a forever home. Mocha is a 90 pound black German Shepherd. She is loving and kind and wants to be everyone's friend. Mocha loves playing ball in her fenced yard just as much as she loves getting cozy with her people. She will need a securely fenced yard.

Mocha would love a family willing to include her in their adventures. She is a great traveling companion who enjoys the wind in her face while riding down the highway. This girl has impeccable manners both inside and outside of the home. Mocha has met other dogs and, although she seems forward, she is only hoping for an invitation to play. She has no cat history but corrects quickly so a dog savvy cat might be fine.

Mocha is posted for Save-A-Mutt Rescue. She is being fostered in Snohomish County, WA. For more information about Mocha, please submit a Save-A-Mutt adoption application. Adoption applications can be found at www.save-a-mutt.org.

Happy Friday!
We can't believe we are still sharing Remus for the Washington Alaskan Malamute Adoption League - WAMAL. He sounds like such a great dog! But his adopter hasn't found him in spite of all of your shares. Will you please join us in trying again? Remus is ready to go to his adoptive, FOREVER home!

Remus is an 89 pound Alaskan Malamute who is estimated to be about 8 years old. He is ready for you to come meet him today! This good boy is described as very friendly and was a shelter favorite before coming to rescue.

Remus is a sweet and friendly 8 year old senior Malamute that is ready to join his furever home! He likes being out exploring, but has some hip issues so short walks are his preference. He takes treats gently, is leash trained and loves a cozy dog bed. He would like a yard to lay about and relax in, and enjoys playing with his toys.

He gets along with other mellow dogs of similar energy level, or would be fine being your one and only. Remus can't wait to welcome all of the love and pets that await him from his forever family!

Remus is posted for WAMAL- Washington Malamute Adoption League of Seattle, WA. He is located in Puyallup, WA. If you are interested in adopting Remus, please visit their website

12 year old Henderson is a unique Chinese crested mix. We don't have an exact weight for him but he is under 15 pounds. After living in the same home since puppyhood, Henderson is in need of an adoptive home because young children stress him. We don't hold that against Henderson as we know senior dogs don't always appreciate the bold and unpredictable actions of toddlers. Let's help Henderson find a home where he doesn't have to worry about children, not even visiting ones!

While Henderson doesn't appreciate toddlers, he loves adults! He is a playful fellow. We are told that Henderson hasn't been too welcoming to dogs in the past but he could live in a home with cats as he's been known to ignore them. Henderson is a friendly fellow once he gets to know you. With time, patience and understanding-losing a lifelong home isn't easy!-it is believed that Henderson will adapt.

Henderson will need an adopter who takes him to the vet for regular vet care and upon adoption, a full senior check up with lab work as that has never been done for him. He has not had regular vet care with the exception of vaccines. Henderson's adopter should be able to afford regular grooming. He was recently shaved very short but there are photos of him with a full body of hair. Of course if his hair is grown out and there are mats, those hurt to be pulled on so he needs daily gentle brushing and care. So if you enjoy a dog who could go either way and like to "play" with different styles or dress him, Henderson could be fun for you once he learns you will be gentle with him.

It sounds as though Henderson can have some food guarding issues. That means he needs someone who is skilled, tolerant and big hearted to help Henderson feel more secure. No dog should feel that they have to protect their food! We are told Henderson does fine being alone at home for quite a few hours. During that time he manages without a potty break but as he ages, he will need more opportunities to relieve himself (as we all do!).Henderson is good on leash and he loves walks! He can manage stairs and usually likes to sleep on the couch in the living room during the day or at bedtime.

Henderson needs a dog savvy adopter, one who will take great care of him and show him that he is loved and cherished. We'd bet in a home without stress, he is going to really thrive!

Henderson is located in Orting, WA. For contact information please email: [email protected]

This is not an ODH dog; we urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.

We introduced you to Popcorn a few weeks ago. She was found as a stray and taken to a shelter. She had recently had puppies, she was very thin, and it was obvious she had been used as a breeder multiple times.

We noticed that her back legs were very bowed when she walked and it appeared her knees were not staying in place.
We immediately got her in to be seen by a specialist and it was found that she was born with bowed femurs, this then caused both of her knees to luxate severely. While she can still get around Ok now, she will need this fixed in order to have a good quality of life.

The surgery will involve making a controlled break in each of the femur bones, then they will be plated and screwed back together in proper anatomical position. Then they will also fix her knees so that they will stay in place. The process for this involves getting a CT scan and then sending that data to a 3d lab where they will make a perfect model of her back legs to guide the surgeon during the surgery...wonderful technology but as you can imagine it will come at a cost! The quote for surgery including the CT scan is just shy of $10K!!!!

She has already had her CT scan and did great with that. Now the data is at the 3d lab and we are waiting to get confirmation we can schedule her surgery.

Now to work on coming up with 10K for the surgery...but anything for our pugs right??????🤩😭🥰

The first thing we would like to do is really step up our BottleDrop donations! This is so easy to do and even if you can't afford to donate money, you can always turn in your deposit recyclables!!!
This program is available all over Oregon, we can send you blue bags to fill on your own or if you live in the Portland metro area we are standing ready to pick up at your home!
To request bags or set up a pickup please fill out the form here:
https://www.pacificpugrescue.org/get-involved.html
Of course if you have the funds and would like to donate towards Popcorn we would also welcome any donations!

Meet Whisper! We think he is an adult dog around 2, and he weighs 12 lbs. He gets along well with other dogs, and he’s been respectful of the resident cat in his foster home! We think he’d do great with dogs, cats, or both in his forever home. Whisper can be a little shy when he first meets new people, but once he warms up he loves attention!

Whisper is a medium energy boy, and he seems to have a love for soft toys! He is crate trained, and has been working on his potty training with his foster. He has also been working on his leash manners, and he is a medium energy boy.

Whisper is fostered in Portland, Oregon. Does he sound like the boy for you? Please apply today! bit.ly/MilasMutts
