Exciting news! Construction on the dog park expansion/walking trail has officially begun!!!

On Friday, April 19, Beausoleil Bros. started work on our new expansion. All the work will happen OUTSIDE the current fencing. However, when needed, temporary fencing will be added so dogs can remain safely inside the park during construction.

Our most recent Bark for the Park Trivia Evening at Ragged Island raised enough money for 4 new benches to be installed along the new trail!! As always thank you for your support.

There are still more items that we would like to add (agility equipment and solar lights) so please support our upcoming fund raisers and donate if you can.

This years' Charity Polo Event will be held on July 14. Tickets will be on sale soon!!! The donation box is still in the parking lot and you can always donate by clicking on the DONATE button at the top of our website page.

Calling All Volunteers!

Please join us for Spring Clean-up at the park this coming Saturday, March 16th. From 8AM to noon.

If you can join us, please consider bringing along work gloves and maybe a rake or shovel with your name displayed.

Additionally,

The dog park committee will be selling t-shirts, sweatshirts and hats during the clean up and then later at Clements' Marketplace - Portsmouth, RI from noon to 4PM.

A note from the Chairwoman re: today's trail cleaning volunteers:

I wanted to pass along sincere thanks for everyone who helped with the trail clearing today. Especially to Joiah and the Marines volunteers for showing up with energy and enthusiasm and more "Yes, Ma'am"'s than you can count! They worked SO hard and were some of the most pleasant and interesting young people I have met in a long time. Joiah, please pass along to your crew how much we value their help.
We managed to accomplish so much in just a few hours. It was amazing..
They are such a marvelous and diverse group from all over the country...Idaho, Maryland, Washington and Utah to name just a few with whom we had great conversations! Please also note how many of them reach out to each other in this picture. We asked them to close ranks so everyone would be included in the picture. The arms around each other speaks volumes about how close they have become as a group. They graduate in 2 weeks...we wish them ALL the luck in the world. They are a credit to their leaders and the country!

October was a very busy month for the Portsmouth Dog Park. Our volunteer Fall cleanup was a great success thanks to our dedicated dog owners and the fantastic group of Marines from the Navy Criminal Justice School. These Marines work very hard for the park and we appreciate them so much!!

Additionally, our plans for improvement are still moving forward. Professor Sheridan’s URI Landscaping Architecture class has spent the last month researching our park. They conducted their onsite analysis and will be sharing recommendations and design ideas.

Lots of wonderful things on the horizon. Stay tuned and have a wonderful Fall!!!

Volunteers Wanted this Saturday

Our Annual Fall Clean up will take place this coming Saturday, October 15 from 8am to noon. Please join us for 15 or 30 minutes...or come for longer! Please wear work gloves and, if you can, bring a metal rake, a shovel, a wheelbarrow or other useful garden tools. Of course, the dogs are welcome...they are the reason that we do our best to keep the park clean and well-tended.

Portsmouth Dog Park Charity Polo tickets will be on sale at the park tomorrow, Saturday from 9am to 1pm. Tickets are $15.00 per person and the park gets to keep 100% of the ticket sales.

We love our park volunteers! While some of the dog park committee members met to reseed a section of grass. Some lovely friends visiting the park offered to help. Thank you all! Especially Dan and Laura. Hopefully we will start to see some grass soon.
