2010 16hh Black Shire/Morgan Sporthorse. Located in Poulsbo, WA.
Super cool, versatile and experienced mare. Loves to jump and does well in dressage. Has shown in jumpers, eventing and dressage. Does trails, ba****ck, goes to the beach, has been on a hunt and has even done mounted archery. Hauls great, is no problem at shows, clips, is good for the farrier, vet, etc. She is simple to ride and has lots of correct training. She will give you confidence in jumping and get you good scores in dressage. Would be a fabulous pony club mount. Sound, no maintenance. Easy keeper. Draftie reliability and sensibility. Cute, correct mover. Almost perfect in every stadium jumping round I have seen. Very rideable, forgiving of mistakes. Same to ride in a field and on trails as she is in the arena. Lots of show experience, great manners.
The negative: She is not everyone’s cup of tea. She is part draft, so is a definite kick-to-go horse. On your first ride, she will test to see if you can get her to move forward. If you are polite, persistent & positive she will get into gear and be her wonderful, reliable self. You’ll adore her and have a blast. She can actually be quite fast if you ask her to be in a jumper round! If you get sharp and pushy about forward, she will give a buck to show you how she feels. It’s not hard to sit and she doesn’t try to get anyone off, it’s simply her way of telling you to play nice. She will also occasionally see a horse that looks like another boss mare and decide to kick. Most of the time that isn’t a problem even in warm up arenas, but she needs a red ribbon at shows and a rider that these things won’t fluster.
She has competed through N level eventing - at that level, she sometimes will get a stop at a ditch or a bank but will go clear, too. Would be a total packer at starter or BN. Show jumping no problems at all, she is most comfortable at 3’, can do 3’3”-3’6”. Has shown successfully in Jumpers. Dressage she is 1st level currently but could go farther if pursued.
If you want a great horse that will teach you a ton of jumping confidence or that will help you to really enjoy shows or other adventures, she is perfect! She absolutely loves people and will quickly become your best friend. She is very sensible and safe, adores cuddles, will follow you around, sleep in your lap and go anywhere with you easily. She loves to jump and is a simple ride. I’ve taught beginner lessons on her with no problems but she is happiest as someone’s pampered only horse that gets tons of attention. She really shines with her person.
I have adored this mare since she was in training with me as a 4yo. She unfortunately isn’t what I need now that her leasor is off to college. Someone is going to be very lucky to have her in their barn!!
