Also I've attached a release for parents to sign for youth to have horses at the college barn please bring that to the meeting as well.

After this week meetings will be on TUESDAY nights at 6 at park county fairgrounds!!!

🍀🍀If your horse had an ID done last year with the kid that’s using them this year you don’t have to do another🍀🍀

☑️ Below is a photo of the id sheet you only need to fill out the part circles in green!!!
☑️ attach a picture of horse IDed
☑️attach a lease agreement if horse is borrowed

🎠 helpful tips 🎠

✅ the lease agreement needs to say I so and so leases so and so my horse with name and description for the 2024 4H year and be signed it doesn’t have to be a legally binding contract from your lawyer
✅ you can ID as many horses as you want per kid and even do multiple ids for one horse for several kids…this is a good insurance policy of one gets injured or something. (But for fair only one kid per horse)
✅ these aren’t safety certifications we do those later we will use the rest of the paper for that and don’t stress we haven’t set dates yet for that!!
✅ IDs are important and useful, it teaches kids a lot of follow through when they use the same horse all year and it’s fair as well! Yes sometimes it sucks when your only horse gets hurt may 2nd and you can’t show them at fair (it’s happened to me) but there’s still lots of fun stuff that you can participate in this summer so no one panic

The blue sq**rt bottle!!
I keep a bottle of chlorhexidine solution in my entry way during foaling season. I spray my boots every night and always after visting a vet clinic or someone else’s facility. Usually I just give em a coat whenever I come through!!! If your having babies this isn’t a bad idea!! When you go other places you will pick up foreign bacteria even if none of their animals are sick, you don’t want that!! I spray my pants as well!! You can use what ever disinfection you want, I have my personal reason for this one including weird allergies to other stuff. There’s a whole rabbit hole of bio security you can go down depending on how secure you want your facility (it’s person preference and there are a lot of ways to be safe) to not bring germs to your babies. However a little bottle of disinfection to spray on your clothes and shoes is a small step that can help in a big way for healthy foals!!!

Topical chlorhexidine for disinfection, carries activity against a broad range of pathogens including gram negative and gram positive bacteria, yeasts, and viruses.

And if your judging the mess that is my entry way!!! Come on over and clean for me would yah!!!

Baby #4 has made his appearance! A red dun stud c**t out if Lance Smallwoods favorite mare Browsin Little Star by Genuine Jersey Owned by Loretta and Desiree Tillett!! He’s chromed up and soo sweet!!! He is whinny’s last baby she is 22 this year and she’s been an amazing horse her whole life and she owes us nothing!!

This event is for all ages youth through grandparents come to the college check out the facility the facility and what you can learn!!! Many horse clas are open enrollment meaning you don’t have to be a full time student to take them!!! I myself try to take a semester of class
Every year at the horse barn or ag complex!! You die when you stop learning!!! Come join me in learning this Friday at the college barn…you don’t have to rsvp if your not eatting lunch there!!!

🚨🚨🚨Just some friendly advice!!!
Edited to add treatment protocol!

📌Culture your mares, you don’t know what’s lurking in that uterus!! Locally it costs about $60-80 bucks to get a mare cultured and about $300 for shipping alone for semen. It doesn’t matter how good that semen is it isn’t going to get a dirty mare bred!! Let me say this loud for the people in the back “YOUR MAIDEN MARE CAN BE DIRTY”. Save your self and your stallion owner time and money culture that mare!!!

🤢🤢🤢The story behind the images!! This mare was purchased at a sale barn, she was said to be breeding sound and ready to breed, she did have a what seemed like p*e crusted tail (turns out it was discharge from the infection)! However she was purchased by my friends who are very savvy and they’ve heard my TED talk 1000 times soo this mare got cultured immediately…any mare you plan to breed should get cultured!! I will culture mares I don’t plan to breed also if they constantly have a dirty p*e tail or legs, or just don’t act like they feel well!
👇🏻These images are from day one and day 3 of treatment the mare has a heavy gram positive bacterial infection. I added the protocol we used on this mare but I urge you to read your culture report for detailed breakdown of sensative, resistant, or intermediate treatments, and listen to your vet, I’m not a vet and I’m not pretending I am one, just sharing experience!! We will flush and treat her again!

🚑🚑This is just what was decided for this mare with imput from vets, always consult your vet for treatment advice!!!!
We used a regular broodmare cathater to flushed her with several bags of fluid their are several options for fluids to use go with your vets suggestion!! We then Infused with Naxcel (ceftiofur) 20cc (1g) and 35 cc trizedta we’ve done this 2 times with a day between treatments. We will do this protocol again tomorrow if we have progress as in little or no discharge we will give an oxytosin protocol 6 hours after the infusion to aid in the removal of all debris from the uterus!
(But please follow your culture report and vet advice when treating these mares a lot of these bacteria’s are resistant to certain antibiotics and make sure if it’s gram positive your treating with the right family of antibotics for gram positive bacteria and same for gram negative)

Dear Small Breeder…. I see you!

I see you pouring your heart and soul into those mares praying for a good heartbeat check.

I see you, missing family gathering because a mare needs bred. Or one is about to foal.

I see you, sleepless nights hoping nothing goes wrong at foaling time.

I see you, crying because you lost a foal, mare or both.

I see you standing over that prize yearling, that just broke its leg.

I see you, struggling wondering which incentives to pay into. Because everyone wants them all paid into every incentive possible.

I see you, as you are saying goodbye to the old mare that started it all… wondering if you should keep going.

I see you, struggling on which mare to breed to which stallion to hopefully make someone’s super star!

I see you, smiling because it all went right this time!

I see you, smiling because someone called to tell you how much they love that foal you raised. And it is their heart horse!

Keeping going small breeder! Because without you, there are a lot of people missing out on that once in a life time horse.
