Update on rescued ratsnake. We have decided to give our wild rescues a temp name. Like John doe. This is predicament the first! He is healing nicely and eating on his own. Ge goes back to Weddington Animal Hospital for a check up in a week or so. Please give a couple dollars to their wildlife fund! It gives native wildlife a chance of survival and reduces financial presson rescues! If you are looking to get a new pet we have a couple of wonderful garters and rat snakes that could use a loving home. Or check out Arkansas Reptile Rescue they have some unbelievable deals on balls and other reptiles!

Meet sthephanie! She is a green anole. She is not eating on her own but will eat if food is held at her mouth. As you can see she has a deformity on her upper mouth. It was caused by repeated stuck shed. We got her when she was 3.5 grams and severely malnourished. Likely as a result of what ever has stopped her eating. Possibly the deformity. She is up to 4.1 grams and doing better. She received vitamin supplements and lots of direct sunlight.. If she doesn't end up eating one her own her though prognosis isn't good.
I'll try to keep everyone updated.

We tried an enrichment activity with our garters. Most of my females like this one are in fact wild. How do they survive? This one at least was able to understand that the fish were there for eating. The cackling was my kids sorry in advance. Ended up tong feeding her 2.

So after much talking we have made the decision to formally shut down as our own rescue. We will be working with Arkansas Reptile Rescue on an as needed basis, and many of our special friends will continue to have permanent homes here. We are also still available for info, snake identification and relocation and some emergency housing and wildlife rehab. So long and thanks for all the mice!

I know it's been a while since I put anything here. A lot has been happening for us. Today I'm just here to update on the passing of one of our rescue garters. Beowulf one of our biggest and sweetest garter girls lost a long fight with a skin infection. We suspect age played a role. She went peacefully at the vet. She will be missed.

Meet Oberon. We normally don't do lizards. They usually need a lot of care and attention, but Oberon is an Anole and they are as basic as they come. He came to us because he hitched a ride from Florida and the people who found him were wise enough to know that releasing him was not good for him or the local ecology. He was thin and dehydrated from his journey, but took to eating right away and is super healthy. He allows pets but not handling and eats from tongs. We love watching him turn black when he basks to absorb more heat. He is thriving in a fife gallon with radiant heat at night and basking uvb during the day. The most challenging part is daily misting because these guy prefer high humidity and drinking dew.
