Little Aurora (pink), now Sophie, went home with the Iverson family today. Sophie will spend her summers up in the cool mountains of Prescott and the winters down in Surprise, AZ☀️

Vet day! Our puppies were so well behaved at the vet, the staff kept saying how good they all were. No one cried during vaccines! Everyone is happy and healthy❤️

The babies are 3 weeks old today which means it’s time to start puppy school! This week we will be working on adding items to their whelping box. This is a big step for our puppies because they have only ever had myself and mama in their box. It is important we don’t rush this process as it can be overwhelming for the puppies. Our top priority is honoring these pups and going at a pace they are comfortable with. Over the next few week, we will also be working on gentle handling exercises. I will be adding videos of the puppies work later this week❤️

The babies are 2 weeks old today! Almost everyone has their eyes either open or almost open. Today we will be clipping their little nails again🐾 We have 3 days left of ENS and ESI then we move on to loud noise exposure. Happy 2 weeks babies!

We are proud to say that we are Badass Breeders. Taking breeding from bad to badass! What does it mean to be a BAB? We health test all of our breeding dogs to ensure we get the healthiest puppies possible. This includes genetic testing and orthopedic testing through the OFA(Orthopedic Foundation for Animals). If a breeding dog does not pass even one of their tests, they are fixed and exited from the breeding program. We specifically breed our dogs for excellent temperament. To find the perfect pair, we look at both mom and dad’s personalities. We never just throw two dogs together mindlessly. Also, we evaluate each puppy’s unique personality at 7 weeks of age and place them with the right family. This process honors the puppy by ensuring the right fit. A high energy puppy would be placed with an active family while a mellow and confident puppy might be placed as a service dog. This is why we don’t do puppy picks until after 7 weeks. Personality is just not developed enough before then. Healthy and happy puppies are our top priority!🐾

Here at Gard Family Poodles and Doodles we do ESI with all our puppies. So far we have introduced orange peel and garlic. What will tonight’s scent be?
