Foster Homes Needed - Ruff Start Rescue Ruff Start Rescue is looking for fosters to open their homes to animals in need. We also ask that you treat your foster animal the same as if it were your own.

Foster care is the most important part of Ruff Start Rescue and allows us to continue our lifesaving efforts! The animals depend on people to open their hearts and homes to them and care for them until they are adopted. An RSR foster's responsibility is to love, feed, play, exercise and provide social interaction for the foster animal. We ask that you take the animal to vet appointments and handle

any medical tasks such as giving daily medications. It's easy to get started! The first step is to fill out the foster signup form. Then you will hear from an RSR representative so you can learn more about what fostering entails and discuss any questions or concerns you have before bringing your first foster animal home. We are excited to save lives with you!

🏡 Foster Needed for Sweet Laney! 🐶

Laney is a gentle, loving girl under 2 years old and around 35 lbs — and she’s been through more than any dog should. 💔 It seems she once had a family… but they left her on the side of the road and drove away.

Despite everything, Laney is still full of love. She’s great with kids, other dogs, and even cats 🐾 Her soft heart shines through every wag of her tail — even though she has a healing burn on her back and tail (possibly from an injury before she was rescued). It’s healing well, but may still be a little sensitive for now.

✅ Brucellosis negative
✅ Up to date on vaccines
✅ Eligible for transport as early as next week
📍 Foster pickup will be in Eden Prairie

Laney needs a safe, caring foster home while she continues to heal — physically and emotionally. Ruff Start covers all supplies, vet care, food, and support. You just give her love and a place to rest.

🐰 Foster Needed for Bunny Bunny! 🐾

Meet Bunny Bunny – a sweet, 4-year-old rabbit (possibly a Rex!) looking for a safe, loving foster home. Due to medical issues, their current caregiver can no longer provide the care Bunny Bunny deserves 💔

This cutie is:
✅ Friendly with people
✅ Good with kids and cats
✅ Litter trained!

We’re not sure of the gender yet, and Bunny Bunny will need to be altered once in rescue. Until then, they just need a cozy spot to land and someone to show them a little love 🥕💕

Foster Needed – Meet Roulette

Roulette is a sweet, shy 2-year-old girl who was dropped off at our Princeton office after her owner had to give her up unexpectedly. Their landlord changed the rules, and suddenly Roulette was no longer allowed.

She’s gentle and a bit unsure right now, but you can tell she just wants a safe place to land. She still needs to be spayed, and we don’t have space for her at the office — we’re urgently looking for a foster home where she can feel secure and loved.

🚨 FOSTER NEEDED – St. Paul, MN 🚨

Meet Luna Girl – a squeaky-toy-loving, high-energy sweetheart who’s looking for a new foster home through no fault of her own 💔 Her current foster is moving and can’t take her along.

Luna is a playful, affectionate goofball who’s great with other dogs, walks well on leash, and makes the best work-from-home buddy 🐾 She’ll nap by your desk, pop up for lunch breaks, and shower you with love after hours.

She’s still working on house training and does enjoy a bit of backyard digging (supervised, of course!), but she’s eager to learn and so worth it 💖

🥺 Holand Needs Us Again 💔

This sweet, goofy 8-year-old Boxer boy — all 75 lbs of him — is looking for a fresh start. Holand was adopted through Ruff Start nearly a year ago, but despite his family’s love and commitment, his separation anxiety just isn’t improving.

✨ Holand is:
🐾 Great with kids
🐾 Dog-friendly with the right (low-energy) match
🐾 Excellent on leash
🐾 Sweet, snuggly, and completely devoted to his people
🐾 Needy — but in the most endearing, “never-let-you-out-of-my-sight” way

He truly cannot be alone — even 10–20 minutes triggers his anxiety. He becomes destructive, counter-surfs, has accidents, and panics when confined. But when he had a live-in sitter for 5 days recently? He was perfect.

We’re working on bringing him back into rescue, but he needs a very special foster:
🏠 Someone who’s home often (retired, WFH, etc.)
🐶 A calm resident dog could help ease his anxiety
🧘‍♂️ A relaxed, patient home to help him decompress
🔐 We’ll provide an “Alcatraz-style” kennel just in case, though ideally it won’t be needed

💊 Medical:
• Corneal ulcers (healed)
• Chronic but unexplained blood in urine
• A bum leg (daily pain meds)
• Complex dental situation (no surgery advised for now)
Despite all this, he’s still full of love and life.

“He’s the sweetest soul — calm, affectionate, just wanted to be near us. We didn’t see much separation anxiety, maybe because we had another older dog. He truly deserves a home full of love for his golden years.” 💙

🐾 FOSTER NEEDED FOR CALVIN! 🐾
Meet Calvin – a 2.5-year-old, 80lb Shepherd/Lab mix with a big personality and even bigger energy! 💥 His owner is moving out of state and, unfortunately, Calvin won’t have the space he needs to thrive.

This handsome boy is already neutered, house-trained, and currently located in St. Cloud. He’s grown up with a smaller dog and is submissive with her — but they’re familiar friends, so intros with new dogs would need to be slow. 🐶

Calvin comes with a mix of endearing quirks and high-energy habits:
🔊 Vocal & expressive
👟 Loves stealing shoes and clothes (fashion thief alert!)
🍽️ Counter-surfer extraordinaire
🚧 Can easily jump a 4-ft fence — don’t assume he’s contained!
💊 Needs trazodone in high-stress situations like vet visits
🛏️ LOVES his kennel and relaxes well in it

He’s had some obedience training but needs consistency. Calvin’s never lived with cats or kids and plays pretty rough, so any foster with those should be ready to separate if needed.

He’s in those “teenage dog” years — sometimes mouthy when overstimulated, but super smart and responsive to redirection. With the right foster, Calvin will absolutely shine. ✨

Meet Bobbi Jo, a 6-year-old pittie mix with the kindest eyes and the biggest heart 💕 This gentle girl was found wandering alone, and though she had a microchip, no one ever came to claim her. Now, she’s ready to leave her past behind and find a loving foster home to help her start fresh.

✨ Bobbi Jo is the total package:
✅ Potty trained
✅ Walks like a dream on leash
✅ Knows commands like “sit” and “come”
✅ Friendly with other dogs
✅ Gentle with kids
✅ LOVES people, pets, and playtime!

She’s about 50 lbs, needs to be spayed (Ruff Start covers that!), and is currently waiting in Hugo, MN for a kind soul to give her a soft place to land.
