WHAT?!😮

Where's a cat in this photo?!😲

Is this a Friday the 13th prank?🤔

No, as promised, it's Beau and Tio's mom, Tishana (right) with Dr. Jones. These two truly know and love cats and so on this Friday, we're celebrating a couple of our cat whisperers instead of an actual cat. This photo is also for all our friends, clients and employees who have known us throughout the years. We feel so fortunate that we have several employees who left the practice for various reasons reasons and are now back with us. This list includes (but is not limited to) Tish, Rui, Caety, Emily, Natalie and Gina B.😊

So on this Friday, we want to thank all of our employees who love your pets and know how to care for them.

We also want to remind you that we are looking forward to seeing holiday photos of YOUR pets next Friday. Is your dog sitting under the Christmas tree? We'd love to see it. As promised, the other half of Tish's dynamic duo... TIO!🌟✨⚡️

As you might recall, Tio will turn 10 on the 28th of this month so December is a pretty important month to him and his brother Beau.🎂

Something very interesting to know about Tio and Beau as a pair - they are completely unrelated. In fact, although they were adopted at the same time, they were adopted through different rescue groups and were from different states. And yet from the moment they met each other (as ADULTS) they have been bonded best friends!💕 It's amazing to see how much comfort these two boys give each other. It's like they were meant to be brothers as well as to be part of Tish's family.🥰

Here's what Tish has to say about Tio:

"Tío - was rescued from SC and was transported to NJ via 4 volunteers making a 13 hour trip.
Loves going for rides and sleeping in his stroller.
Is likely a Havana Brown - the only cat breed that is exclusively solid brown.
Has separation anxiety
Rings a bell for treats
Eats pills right off the floor"

That second photo we've included is of Tio in his stroller. You can see how proud he is of his rolling throne.👑

How about a handsome Beau for your Wednesday?😎

Some of you may remember Beau from yesterday's December birthday collage. He's going to turn 11 on the 28th.🎉 What you didn't learn yesterday was that Beau and his "brother" Tio belong to Tish - she used to be a full time vet tech at PAH / CCC and now she works as a relief vet tech. It's always great to see Tish and her kitties.

Here's what we learned about Beau from Tish:

"Favorite pastime is laying in a sunpatch.
Will come if called by whistling!
Purrs constantly. The vet can never hear his heart!
If he wants to play he will pretend that he wants food, then walk to his toys the moment we put food in the bowl."

We have tricks - like turning on the water in the sink or wafting an alcohol-sprayed gauze square in front of them - for getting a cat to stop purring so the vet can hear their hearts, but some cats are able to outwit us!😁

We LOVE December and so we gathered an EXCEPTIONAL group of cats who all love December as much as we do. Every one of these cats celebrates a birthday or a Gotcha Day in December.🎄🎁☃️ So, without further ado (clockwise from upper right corner):

As promised, a happy story for your Monday morning. This is actually the very, very beginning of a happy story.😇

Meet Chloe. Her backstory claims that she was left behind when her family moved. A Good Samaritan took her inside and wanted to adopt her but were unable to do so because the family cat did not approve of the situation. Forgotten Cats spayed her and got her all ready for adoption. Cat's Amazing Rescue Group took her into their system a couple weeks ago and placed her in Petsmart. That's where our story really begins!!

Our client recently had to say goodbye to his senior cat. He went to Petsmart to buy dog food and was shocked to see that the cat adoption room looked empty! He went inside and found that he was wrong. There was ONE cat. And she was beautiful and came right up to the front of her cage to rub against his fingers. It was the first time a cat had ever chosen HIM! His wife was usually the cat person in the family.

So yesterday, Chloe started her brand new life with our client in her furever home. We've learned her name is still pending. They want a new name for Chloe who has already been "Eden" so she's not attached to a specific name. She was going to be called Cindy Lou but that confused our client's dog Sadie. She might be Betty Lou instead. We'll keep you posted on this developing story!😁

For now, just enjoy knowing that this beautiful, adult cat has been adopted and will be loved more than she knows. Happy Friday!🎉

We are in the thick of holiday season which means many of you may be traveling soon. If you have pets, we have tips!😄💡😄

If you are flying, make sure you know your airlines pet policies WELL in advance. They will most likely require a health certificate which means your pet will need a wellness exam beforehand so book that appointment now:

If you are flying, make sure you know the airlines specifications for carries and make sure your pet is well acclimated to that carrier. Also, get your pet comfortable wearing a harness. We highly recommend your pet is wearing a harness inside of their carrier - especially if your pet is a skittish cat.

On the day of travel, exercise your pet well before your trip and give them plenty of bathroom breaks. Pack comfort items for your pet and above all, be flexible. Pets are very good at picking up our stress so try to be as calm as possible. Spraying bedding with Feliway for cats and Adaptil for dogs might also be helpful.

A much simpler solution might be to board your pet. We offer boarding for our feline patients and for canine patients with medical issues.

On an entirely separate matter, two weeks from today is the Friday before Christmas and we are inviting you all to start thinking about seasonal photos you can share with us on that day. We've started to see some of your pets sitting next to a Christmas tree, with a dusting of snow on their nose, sitting next to an exciting advent calendar... Please, please, nothing thrills us more than seeing photos all of our furry friends so start taking photos! Friday, December 20th will be our virtual holiday pet parade.

We think you might all know Honey. What you may not know is that she and her mom have been working on getting a toe bean photo for Toe Bean Tuesday. And they SUCCEEDED!🌟🐾✨ We couldn't be more proud!🎉

So, on this first Toe Bean Tuesday in December, we want to see lots and lots of photos of your pets! You know the drill. We have a real treat for you on this first Monday in December. Meet Alistair!🧡🐾🧡

We're going to let his mom tell his story:

"He is estimated to be around 2 years old and was living outdoors in Bordentown City, where good Samaritans were feeding him, for at least 6 months, when Bordentown City Cats was asked to help with having him TNRed (notice his tipped ear). He ended up with our family as an Emergency Medical Foster after his neuter surgery (he opened up his incision, causing an uncontrollable bleed) requiring weeks of crate rest. During that period Cat Dad fell in love with this gentle giant who loves to “chat” with people and to be cradled like a baby. There was no way we could return him to the street - he may have been outdoors, but was definitely *not* feral. We’d like to encourage others to foster if they can, and to support TNR efforts in their communities! Also, we want to remind people interested in adopting a kitty, that kittens all grow up and that adult cats need safe and loving homes too!"

TADA!🌟

Benji and Planck have a big sister and her name is Turnip!💗🎉💗🎊

Like Planck, Turnip was adopted through EASEL. Her story is not so traumatic but is very cute. Here's what we read in her records. "Turnip was found as a stray and trapped during a TNR project. She was very friendly and was being evaluated for adoption when she suddenly delivered four beautiful babies!"

Here's what we learned about 4.5-year old Turnip from her mom, "Turnip is our sweet girl! She is our second kitty and even though she is only 8 pounds, she came into our home and immediately became the queen, bossing Planck (and us) around. She definitely wears the pants!" And of course, there's the matter of her name. "Turnip was named Turnip at the shelter, and since we got her at the beginning of gardening season, and I had just planted a bunch of turnips, it felt appropriate to keep 😊"

We love that as soon as her babies were weaned, our client adopted Turnip and not one of her kittens. We also have to point out how much we love her whiskers and her black toe beans on white paws. She is a beautiful little Tuxedo. On this Tuxedo Tuesday, extra bonus points to anyone who shares photos of their Tuxedo cat or toe beans for Tuesday!🐾😁🐾
