I wanted to make a video to talk about why we use a slip lead and what the advantages are to using them. I’ve had so much success with all the dogs I’ve worked with when using a slip lead. It allows me to have control over the dog, give corrections and avoid smelling/marking/eating things while we are on a walk. Ask me today how this can help your dog or give a follow for more tips and cute pictures/videos of dogs!
Working on some more loose lead training with Cooper (brown mini golden doodle). He picked up on the concept with the slip lead very quickly. He had a few frustrating moments but that’s when the magic happens!
I rarely allow playtime in the house…you can see why. It creates a calm and stress free atmosphere for all of our guests, including our dog Ruby. In-home dog sitting is the way to go when you leave. You won’t regret it and your dog won’t come home with bad habits or anxiety.
Day two of working with Louie on his leash manners and I think it’s safe to say he’s a quick learner (black doodle on my right). This is my favorite type of training because with the proper tools and direction it’s possible for walks to be enjoyable. Don’t wait and ask me today what you can do!
The second half 2023 was wild! Let it be known that this is only a fraction of the pictures/stays. I’m so very proud and grateful for this little business of mine. Thank you for being a part of my little community! Here’s to 2024 🎉🥳👏🏼
Millie is BACK! She’s older and she’s bigger (and only going to get bigger) which means we need to get our leash manners under control. She’s been allowed to pull on her walks and it hasn’t been any fun for her owners. That’s where I come in. Not only is she staying the weekend but we get the opportunity to work on a very specific thing with her, to make her owner’s lives a bit better. She was very resistant in the beginning but with some gentle coaxing and pushing through the uncomfortableness she did great! She still has some pulling and moments of push back but she will learn fast!
We are working on some loose leash manners today with Indigo. He’s our very newest, and very biggest, friend. Some things you can do to create good leash manners are to get a slip lead, eliminate distractions and reward. A good slip lead that goes around the snout and neck will help to direct the dog to what you want them to do. This will lead to better behavior and allow you to direct them away from distractions like sniffing and marking. An easily distracted dog should walk on the inside to avoid things like mailboxes, messes and smells. Lastly we want to reward with words and treats so they know they are doing what we want them too. I was using the word “good heel” for Indigo but you can use a treat pouch and a clicker too! Happy loose leash walking, friends!
Ruby was so excited to DIVE into this month’s #barkbox! She loves the pool party toys and yummy treats! Thanks @barkbox, it’s a good #barkboxday!
Here’s a six month recap for you! To say we’ve been busy over here is an understatement and it makes me realize that I’m incredibly blessed! Thank you for supporting me and my small business!
Morning playtime is more fun with friends ❤️🐾
