Ginger Long, owner/trainer is certified by the British Horse Society and can help you achieve your goals by developing harmony with your horse. Equetec and LongHaven Farm
Ginger Long (BHS Certified) and assistant trainer, Ashley Rumple, specialize in horse and rider interaction. Their mission is the development of harmony through the use of conditioning, strength training, and an eclectic mix of b

ehavioral work, synergized with rider balance through seat sessions for effective response to the aids. Equetec programs include training sessions, private lessons, and two group sessions per week. Fun rehearsal clinics are often hosted to prep for off-property outings, with the goal of positive experiences as a team. The goal is individualized and systematic programs for both horse and rider, supported by the Equetec team and horse family. Equetec is not discipline-, or saddle style-specific, but rather encourage a whole horse, balanced seat approach for fun, optimal performance, and longevity of both horse and rider. Ginger Long, British Horse Society, certified Instructor and Trainer in the dressage and eventing community, helps horses and their riders with Equine Conditioning and Therapeutic Exercises that are used to strengthen, supple and improve performance:

-Why is my horse so stiff?
-How do I get my horse moving freely forward and more regular?
-How do I 'go with' that movement?
-What specific posture and movement indicates weak stifles or other problems? Learn to see asymmetry or weakness. Discussion and demonstration includes why exercise and conditioning programs need to be specific to your individual horse for longevity. Equetec's Mission:

"In Pursuit of Harmony"

The basic aim of every rider is effective interaction between horse and rider; harmony. A competitive rider might define effective as success in competition, whereas a pleasure rider might define effective simply a ride without incident. Regardless of the goals of the rider, there are several components to effective horse–rider interaction:

Horse
• good health, nutritional and exercise program
• a thorough examination by a veterianrian to approve soundess and work
• appropriate level of fitness for the activities it is asked to perform
• well suited (in conformation, temperament, and ability) to the activities it is asked to perform
• shoeing for proper balance of hoof and body

Tack
• appropriate for the horse and activity
• well fitted or applied

Rider
• competent
• well balanced
• fit for the activity
A problem with any one of these components can lead to resistance by the horse, imbalance leading to problems. A problem with any one of these components can lead to resistance by the horse, imbalance leading to an irregular gait, and possibly even lameness or other physical or behavioral problems. Thus, these components influence how well a horse and rider progress in their training. Roadblocks in a training program may be due to a weakness in the horse that has not been addressed, subtle pain, less-than-optimal shoeing that causes the horse to be unbalanced or an asymmetry or weakness in the rider that needs to be tackled through un-mounted exercises. Many of these physical and behavioral resistances can be reduced or eliminated by repetition of inventive, precise exercises for horse and rider taught and practiced by “the team.”

Our team approach is not focused merely on teaching the movement that will enable the horse and rider to get to the next show. We instead take a “whole horse and whole rider” approach taking into account all the components that influence horse and rider interaction. We then develop a plan to help them achieve a lifetime of success. Equetec specializes in customizing an action plan for improving the effectiveness of the horse–rider interaction. This multi-disciplinary approach offers riders a unique opportunity for working through problems that have been resistant to conventional solutions. Equetec provides solutions by designing programs specific to each individual’s goals and abilities for optimal performance and longevity. Our foundation is rooted in the harmonious development of each horse and rider combination and is bound by a geniune love for the well-rounded, happy, peaceful horse. Join us, "In Pursuit of Harmony"; with your horse.

This!

Gymnastics, skiing, surfing, skating, all sorts of riding styles and disciplines have one huge thing in common---The need for agile, supple, elastic BALANCE.

"Proprioception" ---Proprioception, also called kinesthesia, is the body’s ability to sense its location, movements, and actions. It’s the reason we’re able to move freely without consciously thinking about our environment.

The great athletes have more of this, generally, than the klutzes, no big surprise there, so if becoming a good rider is a goal, become one body with that of your horse, just as a great surfer becomes in tune with the wave, or as a great skier becomes in tune with the mountain.

So there's a nice easy goal for today--------

Thanks Denny for the reminder. 👍🏻🧰⚖️ ⏰ “Those physical aspects---But mechanics are only the beginning. As days turn into weeks, weeks into months, months into years, the gradually realized goal, one hopes, is that the elusive word "feel" will begin to inform the what and when of the correct basics.

This process can take a long time, and it can be discouraging for those who are not used to such a "long haul," or temperamentally geared to being persistent.”

Emily Fabiano, riding the little Morgan mare High Brook Rockstar yesterday, in a lesson with Lindle Sutton.

Emily heads back to her third year at UNH soon, a strange experience in this Covid world, when schools will be trying to thread their way between safety and normalcy.

Much of learning about flat work, dressage schooling, whatever one calls it, is learning mechanics. How to do this, how to do that, what leg to put where, and how much pressure to apply, and for how long---Those physical aspects---

But mechanics are only the beginning. As days turn into weeks, weeks into months, months into years, the gradually realized goal, one hopes, is that the elusive word "feel" will begin to inform the what and when of the correct basics.

This process can take a long time, and it can be discouraging for those who are not used to such a "long haul," or temperamentally geared to being persistent.

I have developed a pat answer when someone asks me whether some rider "has what it takes?"

"Ask me in ten years. Maybe fifteen."
