Friday morning I received the news no cat owner ever wants to get. Our sweet Stinker was hit and killed by a car on LaCima. Just typing that feels like my heart is being ripped out of my chest all over again. To those of y’all who saw him and let us know, thank you so much. You saved me and my son from driving right by where he was hit. I was able to drop our son off at school without ruining his day. I met Ryan on LaCima and he confirmed that it was our boy. He wrapped him up in his tshirts that Stinker loved to nap on, then brought him home where he spent all day making sure his final resting place beside our home was perfect. He was laid to rest with such tender love and care, in those same tshirts he loved so much.
Our hearts are broken, especially our son’s, but we are so thankful that we were able to share our boy with so many wonderful people that loved and spoiled him rotten. He was such a cool cat and truly loved everyone he met. He had the best purr and loved belly rubs more than any dog I know. I’m so thankful that Thursday night we loved on him extra hard, taking lots of videos and pictures of him being his normal goofy self: begging for chicken noodle soup, drinking out of a pitcher while half in and half out of the sink, locked himself in our neighbors garage then ate their dogs food… Thursday night was definitely an adventure. But that was normal in Stinker’s daily life. Short, sweet, and full of love and adventure.
To those of you who’s kids saw what no kid should ever see, I truly am sorry that they had to see him. I’ve been praying for all the kids hearts that so loved our boy just like we did.
When we told our son, he wanted us to be sure and let all of Stinker’s fans know that Stinker was gone and to make sure we told them thanks for loving our cat. Now we’re going to spend some time loving extra hard on Luna Bella, as she is missing her best pal and partner in crime.
