I haven’t done a free groom in a while. I was overwhelmed for a bit with the sheer everythingness of adulthood, and the free grooms got left behind. I was going to start again in July, but our cat Yoru went missing July 2 and never came home. Yoru would grab a slip of paper from the bin and choose the free groom, and it’s been breaking my heart to think of doing it without her.

My soul feels her void; I do not expect her to come home.

This boy is a rescue with trust issues. His first groom, he snapped at my head while clipping his nails. He could have drawn blood if he wanted, but he only wanted to give a warning that he wasn’t fond of nail cutting. Lots of treats, a soothing voice, slow deliberate movements, and patience has him accepting kisses three grooms later.

This beautiful girl is Bella. Her dad is on hospice, and they want to find a good family for her. She is anxious but very sweet, no history of aggression. Best in a house with no small children. She’d be an amazing support animal for an older person or couple. She is afraid of hard floors, so a carpeted house would be lovely.
