Good information on Bloat or Gastric Torsion, it is when the stomach twists and your dog can literally die in a matter of 1-2 hours. We make every dog that stays with us rest for 1 hour or more after every meal. Bloat can even happen in little dogs as well!

Last night before Bed, my old lady, îara bloated. Luckily, we noticed her symptoms right away and we got her treated quickly. She made it and she's fine this morning.

Bloat is common in our breed. I repeat. BLOAT IS COMMON IN OUR BREED. We had a dog bloat just in October and then it reared its ugly head again last night

Every Cane Corso owner should know the signs of bloat and know what to do in case of emergency.

1. Drooling
2. Retching or Dry heaving
3. Vomit or inability to vomit
4. Anxiety or restlessness
5. Tight stomach ( usually left side) painful
6. Inability to p**p ( though diarrhea in spurts can happen in early stages)
7. Getting up and down, or downward dog

Bloat doesn't discriminate, bloat can come out of left field for reasons you didn't think about. It's not just over feeding, it can happen after regular feeding. It is more prevalent in larger breeds, like the Cane Corso, and the older the dog,the higher the risk.

The best preventative is to tack, or Gastropexy and the best time to do so is during spay or neuter, but it can be done after as well.

Always be aware of the amount of food you're feeding, and be aware of water intake as well.

Restrict exercise after eating and drinking, atleast an hour or more.

Ticks….I loathe them. Did you know that there is a medical problem called Tick Paralysis in dogs? I have seen it many times while I was living/working in the Auburn area. Dog presents paralyzed, LOADED with ticks, hospitalize patient and remove ticks. Sometimes they are so bad they need fluids etc. The dog a few hours later gets up and walks. It is crazy!

The saliva of an infected tick contains neurotoxins that disrupt the connection between nerves and muscles. The American dog tick, Lone star tick, Rocky Mountain wood tick, and Deer tick or Blacklegged tick are all known to cause tick paralysis. Please if living or visiting tick areas ie, grasses, hiking trails or off trail trekking use tick prevention!

Had an amazing breakthrough this am. Louie doesn’t usually engage in play, he may snap or show teeth. He has been coming here maybe a year and a half and this stay he has really opened up to play with others willingly! So Leo thank you for playing with Louie💜💜 Yes this is in our bedroom and yes that is my family 100 year old sofa under four blankets, that we were not allowed to sit on as kids🤣 but who can blame them it’s feather and down filled. And yes that is my view when I wake up out my bedroom every am. #blessed my chickens graze up there too.

To say we are lucky to have friends as clients and clients we are blessed to call friends too is an understatement. I don’t say it often enough but we are seriously BLESSED to have all as part of our life and business here, and that you trust us with your furry family members says a lot! We have been showered with holiday gifts and we both are so grateful, but not saying we need the gifts it’s just great to be appreciated!💜

Some of the crew are so tired they aren’t in here, cuz they done!🤣annnd then we have the ultra good motivated Labrador Leo🤣

Sadie also was dropped off last night after dark. She is such a sweet gal. The pack immediately chilled out when I brought he out. They know she’s old, and it’s pretty sweet to watch💜
