Michelle and Mocha have both found their forever homes, and we couldn’t be happier! ❤️

Michelle, a Westie mix, was rescued from the euthanasia list at our local animal control. Now she’s safe, surrounded by toys, and settling into life with a family who loves her. She’s pictured below, finally getting the chance every puppy deserves.

Mocha, a Chihuahua mix, came to us in critical condition with pyometra after her former owners requested euthanasia at a local clinic. Thanks to your support, she got the care she needed and is now home, healthy, and loved. Thank you for making moments like this possible!

We’re currently looking for a quiet foster home for Mary Kate, a sweet Chihuahua going through heartworm treatment. If you can help, please message us or visit nykolsrescues.com

Sleepy Sundays were made for snuggles, and Jethro is the ultimate pro 😴

Jethro would be a perfect fit for just about any home, whether you’ve got a busy family or a quiet couch with room for one more. He’s calm, loving, and ready to make someone really happy.

He’s 6 years old, 55 pounds, and an all-around sweetheart. Great with kids, cats, and other dogs, fully housetrained, and knows his basic commands like sit, down, come, and off. He’s crate trained, super gentle during grooming, and loves giving kisses.

If Jethro sounds like your kind of Sunday snuggle buddy, head to www.nykolsrescues.com/adopt to apply!

🐾 UPDATE: Mocha has been adopted! 🐾

Mocha is ready for her second chance!

This sweet 7-year-old Chihuahua mix weighs about 13 lbs and has the most gentle soul. She came to us last week when her previous owners said she was 15 and asked for her to be euthanized. But after a little digging, we found out she’s only 7 and was suffering from pyometra, a serious uterine infection that’s completely treatable with proper care.

Thanks to your support, Mocha got the surgery and medical care she needed and is now feeling so much better. She’s good with other dogs and kids, doesn’t seem to mind cats, and is quite the little lap dog! She’s currently working on her potty training and doing great.

Now she just needs a forever home where she’ll be loved for the rest of her life. If you think Mocha might be the one for you, apply at www.nykolsrescues.com/adopt ❤️

We’re so grateful to have you as part of the Nykol’s Rescues family. Every donation, share, adoption, and kind message helps us continue showing up for animals in need.

Because of your support, we’re overjoyed to share that our medical case from yesterday is already showing signs of healing. She’s perked up, and during her afternoon potty break at the hospital, we saw glimpses of her strength and determination. Her road to recovery won’t be easy, but her spirit is already shining through.

It truly takes a team to save a tail, and we’re so thankful you’re part of ours. 💛

🚨 Emergency Intake 🚨

Today, a 7-year-old Chihuahua was brought in to a local vet hospital to be euthanized. Her owner said she hadn’t eaten in five days and could barely lift her head. She was weak, quiet, and fading.

But when the vet team looked closer, they discovered something treatable. She wasn’t dying of old age or cancer. She had pyometra, a severe infection in her uterus, one that fills the body with pus and causes immense pain. Left untreated, it’s fatal. But with surgery, she had a chance.

A chance she was almost never given.

This little dog didn’t deserve to be quietly discarded. She deserved someone to fight for her. So we did.

She underwent emergency surgery and is now hospitalized, still in critical condition. Her body is fragile. Her spirit is exhausted. But she’s alive. And we’re holding onto hope.

We believe in lending a paw to save a life.
Even when it’s hard. Even when it hurts.
Even when it costs us more than we can afford.

Her medical care is expected to cost over $1,500 due to the emergency surgery and her extended hospital stay. We said yes to saving her life because we hoped you’d help us carry the weight.

If you can, please donate at: https://nykolsrescues.com/donate/
Your support means everything—not just to us, but to her.

Welcome to Nykol’s Rescues, little one. You were worth saving. ❤️

King has been with us for a few months now, patiently waiting for a home to call his own and a fresh start. He was originally adopted as a puppy and grew up in a home but was recently returned to our care when his family could no longer give him the time and attention he needs. It’s been a tough adjustment, but through it all, King has remained gentle, loyal, and full of heart, just waiting for someone to give him a second chance.

He’s house-trained, well-mannered, and good with both kids and other dogs. King enjoys being part of your day but doesn’t need constant attention. He’s easygoing, affectionate, and would thrive in a calm, loving home.

If you’re interested in adopting King, please apply at www.nykolsrescues.com/adopt. 🐾

Mary Kate hopes everyone is staying cozy and dry during all this rainy weather! ☔️

She and her kennel friends are making the most of the gloomy days with indoor playtime and the ultimate rainy day treats: peanut butter and pumpkin stuffed Kongs.

Mary Kate is around 7–8 years old and weighs 11 lbs. She’s affectionate, friendly, playful, and gets along well with other dogs. She came to us as a stray, so we’re still learning more about her, but she’s already shown us how sweet she is.

Mary Kate is especially in need of a quiet foster home where she can rest and recover as she begins heartworm treatment. If you’re interested in helping her take that next step, please apply at www.nykolsrescues.com/adopt.

Jethro has been with us since February 2023. That’s over 450 days of being the best boy, patiently waiting for his turn as others get adopted around him. 💔

He’s in a loving foster home where he’s safe and adored, but it’s still not his home. He’s still waiting for the place and the people he can call forever.

Jethro is house-trained, gentle with kids, and good with other dogs and even cats. He’s fully vetted, easygoing, and full of love.

We know his family is out there. Let’s help him finally find home.

Welcome to Nykol’s Rescues, Charlie❤️

Charlie was surrendered to us when he needed emergency surgery for an obstruction. His owners asked for euthanasia instead, but we couldn’t let that be the end of his story. Thanks to the quick work of our amazing veterinary team, Charlie got the care he needed and is now recovering.

He’s 1.5 years old, 28 lbs, house-trained, fully vetted, and gets along well with dogs and cats.

Originally named Mojo, he was lovingly renamed Charlie by our sponsor angel Ruth to mark his fresh start.

If you’d like to be part of his next chapter, whether through fostering or adoption, send us a message or apply at https://nykolsrescues.com/adoption-application/

Mary Kate and Ashley are two red Chihuahua-Dachshund mixes, each around 10 lbs and estimated to be 5 to 7 years old. They were found as strays in Arcadia and ended up at animal control where they were unclaimed and at risk of euthanasia. While they’re not bonded, they’re both incredibly sweet, playful, and good with other dogs. They’re also heartworm positive and will be starting treatment soon, so each is looking for a calm home to recover in, whether foster or forever.

Michelle is a beautiful Westie mix who was surrendered to animal control when her family could no longer keep her. She’s shy and unsure, likely due to limited socialization, but we believe she’ll come around with patience and kindness. A foster-to-adopt home would give her the chance to feel safe and loved at her own pace.

🐾Fostering gives our pups a chance to settle in, relax, and show us who they really are. It also opens up space so we can help more dogs in need. If you’re interested in fostering, send us a message on Facebook. Ready to adopt? Apply at www.nykolsrescues.com/adopt 🐾

Jethro is loving life in foster. He’s got a doggy buddy, cozy naps, and people who adore him. But after over two years of waiting, he’s ready for something more. His own family. His own forever.

We’re launching our Jump Up to Adopt Jethro campaign because this sweet, goofy boy has waited long enough. He’s great with other dogs, loves kids, and keeps everyone smiling.

His foster mom even made a list called “How to Jive with Jethro” to help you fall in step with this lovable guy.

If you’re ready for laughs, cuddles, and a lifelong best friend, Jethro is your guy.

Apply to adopt him at nykolsrescues.com/adopt ❤️
