From his current owner:

Jax is a sweet lovable dog. My husband and I are both dealing with illness and we just can’t handle having multiple dogs at this time. We are heartbroken to have to rehome him, he has brought us so much joy. Jax is a 48lb. chocolate lab/pointer mix who is completely house trained. He is good around kids, we just had our toddler grandson here and Jax did great. He is good with our other dog.
Jax loves to run and we just don’t have a large enough fenced yard for him. He will bring joy to anyone who has time to work with his anxiety during the rain.

Jax is currently in Panama city FL
Ultimately he may have to come back to our kennel, which he wouldn't handle well with his anxiety, but that may be our only option.

Took two of our long term residents on a field trip on my day off yesterday. I realized they hadn't had a change in scenery in quite some time. It's hard to balance life, work, and rescue.

Jethro and Junior are both good with other dogs, house trained and kennel trained. Good with older kiddos. Jethro enjoyed the water, JR wasn't too sure lol

Jethro is around 5yrs and weighs 50lbs - days in rescue: 641
Jr is around 3-4 and weighs70lbs - days in rescue: 484

**ADOPTED**Lewis/Lewie: Tan/white Chihuahua around 2-3 yrs old, 15lbs, completely house trained, good with other dogs but if on your lap he will guard you like his life depends on it. Very sweet and playful.

**ADOPTED**Clark: Grey Schnauzer mix, 2-3 years old, very playful and good with other dogs, house and crate trained. 18lbs.

**ADOPTED* Cindy Lou: brown Chihuahua, only 7.5 teeny lbs. 10 yrs old, the sweetest Chihuahua in existence, loves everyone and everything and is a happy little camper!

DeSoto Animal control is busting at the seams so we went yesterday and did what we could by pulling these 3 little ones. They all need some TLC, meds, and will be ready for adoption next week hopefully!

The Big Beige Boys wanted to pop on here and say hello! They've all been waiting.. and waiting.. and will continue to wait until a special person or family comes along ready to welcome one of them into their home.

How long have they been waiting?

Junior since Sept. 2022 - he rode out hurricane Ian with us pulled from Bowling Green AC

Jethro since Feb 2023 from Sebring AC

Sam and Thor since Oct. 2023 - returned after 3 years due to divorce, no fault of their own. Sam had previously come to us from DeSoto AC.

This is the reality of a small "no-kill'' shelter. We can't help any more large dogs until these guys are placed.

Wendy update 📢

She's doing great! Her recheck with the surgeon last week was good, the leg is healing well. She got to meet her potential new mom today and will go home with her next week to start a trail adoption 🐾❤️

Jethro is an all around great dog. Active enough to go for runs/adventures and snuggly enough to be a couch potato on movie nights! He is crate trained and house trained, great with people. 50lbs, pit mix. He is dog selective and likes to chase cats.

Up date on Wendy! She is doing great! She doesn't like being restricted because she's still a puppy but her human foster brother is keeping her company 🩵

The next few weeks will be bandage changes, at 4 weeks we will reassess her walking and stability on that leg because she might have also torn a tendon.

Thor got to take a walk downtown Arcadia this morning and enjoyed a pup cup from the Florida Farmhouse Coffee . He met some super nice people. He is still looking for a forever home 🤍

3 years old, Black Mouth Cur, 63lbs, loves people & kids! Completely house trained and crate trained.
He isn't fond of other large male dogs. Likes to chase squirrels, ect so kitties probably aren't a good idea.

Happy update: Surgery went great yesterday!
She is all settled into her foster home and doing well ❤️‍🩹

A huge thank you to all the people who donated, we were able to cover her surgery just in time, you guys rock! There are simply too many to list but we are sending out individual donation receipts - if you haven't received one yet and would like one, please let us know.

Another big thanks to the amazing Dr. Andrea Bivens and her staff Bivens Animal Hospital who cared for her all week, kept her comfortable, and organized surgery with the also amazing Dr. Kristin Wendelburg.

Dr. Wendelburg is a board-certified surgeon (Mobile Surgical Precision) who we will continue to follow up with throughout her recovery.

‼️ URGENT DONATIONS NEEDED ‼️

This girl needs your help! She was hit by a car and brought into the vet clinic(where our rescue dogs get cared for). She has a fractured tibia, fibula, metatarsus and maxilla - her owners cannot afford any care for her and surrendered her. Not only does she need expensive orthopedic surgery but she will also need to be spayed, heartworm tested, vaccinated, ect. She's only a year and a half old. We are hoping to raise enough to save her leg ($5,000). Although we are grateful for any and all donations, if you donate through Facebook it takes 60 days to reach our bank account. Due to the urgency, if possible, please donate directly to the clinic via phone - Bivens Animal Hospital (941)-621-4818 or if there's a more convenient way for you just let us know.

Around 2 years, Chihuahua mix, 12lbs!

Spunky little girl is house trained and super sweet! We pulled her from DeSoto Animal Control where she was surrendered due to not getting along with their cat, she hasn't reacted negatively towards our barn cats so we're not sure if that was the real reason she was surrendered. She is good with other dogs. She is now spayed, chipped and vaccinated so she is ready for her new home!

We pulled Queenie from Clewiston back in 2021, she was heartworm positive and last year was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor in an unremovable area, she has had zero interest. She would love a nice place to spend the rest of her time, she's well behaved and just wants love. Our rescue will pay for her care to any approved foster home.

Sorry our page has been a little quiet lately, it was for a good reason though, Nykol got married last weekend!
🍾💐🤍

It's hard to balance life and rescue. We are a small rescue run primarily by one person and as much as we wanted to do our annual fundraiser this year, there just wasn't enough time to plan it. Of course we still need the funds, that never changes, our kennel currently houses 10 dogs. Some have been here over a year 😮‍💨
Adoptions have been slower than usual.
Keep an eye out for the upcoming 'Giving Tuesday' fundraiser.
