UPDATE on our Little Bones. We got the pathology report back and its absolutely worst case scenario. The ONE thing we all hoped and prayed it NOT to be. We really werent prepared for this because this type of mass is very rare on the kidney. They usually attack the spleen or liver. Im posting screen shots of what it is and the prognosis, but in a nutshell, its incurable, (removing the mass gave him some time) but the vet said he has maybe 1-3 months. To say we are devistated doesnt even scratch the surface. This type of cancer os basically in the blood vessels from what I understand, its very aggressive and nasty. Because its in the blood, it travels and attacks anywhere it wants. All we can do at this point is give him steroids to possibly slow it down, and I have ordered some natural mushroom powder with several cancer fighting mushrooms, turkey tail mushrooms and a couple others that help boost immunity. We will pay close attention to his overall health and activity level. Right now he is eating, and acting his normal happy energetic self, although he is sleeping more and a little wobbly yet from the major surgery he had last week. He is not showing any indication of pain, and he really just wants "mom" to let him go play.. "Mom" is being overly protective and restricting activity until he sees the vet again for stitch removal.
Thank you to everyone who helped us with his vet bill, and prayed for him. Please continue to pray for Little Bones, and for us for strength as we go through this. Just the thought of loosing him is like a punch right in the chest for me.
Below are screen shots of the type of cancer he has.
The picture of Little Bones was taken last summer.

UPDATE on Little Bones. He is still a little wobbly, but each day getting better. Hes eating well, drinking, peeing and finally last night went p**p, although he lost his balance and sat in it. Poor guy looked at me with a look of sheer embarassment, like he was horrified. This is a dog who refuses to go out in the rain because well, he is just too dainty to get his feet wet. I cant imagine what he was thinking when he sat back in his own p**p. I hugged him and told him it was ok and Mama would wipe his butt. Lol. THANK YOU EVERYONE that helped us, and prayed for Bones. Hes well on his way to recovery!

Saving Snoots Animal Rescue is mainly a dog rescue and we arw not really equipped to handle kittens in this condition, needing as much care. We have ZERO kitten fosters. We only have ONE dog foster..

THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone that shared, and to my friend that paid for todays vet bill, THANK YOU!! SPECIAL THANK YOU TO RAL. RICHMOND ANIMAL LEAGUE. FOR TAKING THESE LITTLE PITIFUL BABIES!!
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DONATE TO THEIR CARE, PLEASE DONATE TO RAL. ❤❤
Im removing our donation info as not to cause confusion.

UPDATE: Both kittens, "Winkin and Blinkin" are staying at the vet for now. Their condition is heartbreaking. The initial bill is covered completely by a private donor that wishes to remain unknown.

Ok friends, we need aome help again.. I picked these 2 up out of the street early this morning. They are tiny, emaciated, sick and one possibly has a ruptured eye. I will be heading to Animal Hospital of Emporia shortly with them. Our rescue is BROKE. PLEASE help us help these babies. I will be looking for another rescue to take them on, and any funds raised above what we need for their bill will be transferred with the babies to that rescue.

SORRY FOR THE ICKY PICS.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP

Saving Snoots Animal Rescue would like to send out a HUGE THANK YOU to Gleaning for the World and James McLaughlin!!! Today we were invited to purchase dog food at a greatly reduced price. Myself and our foster Lisa took a trip over to pick it up. We not only got literally a TON, of dog food but we were kindly gifted cases of Chlorox bleach, a couple LARGE dog beds, large crate trays, and puppy play pens. We already gave some of the food to 2 different rescues, have a case of bleach heading to Brunswick Animal Shelter, and 2 cases to another rescue, along with one of the puppy play pens. We LOVE to share when we can. Thank you again!!

James told me they have many of the large crate trays that can be given to rescues that need them. All you have to do is ask.

Also a HUGE thank you to Terri Ulrich for dropping off dog beds, food, treats and other goodies, yesterday. We are truly blessed!!

Friends, Family, Followers. I just noticed someone put links in alot of our posts to purchase T-Shirts, mugs, and other rescue related items. THIS WAS NOT US! We have ONE T-shirt lady. She is local to us and she currently is our ONLY source of Snoots items. I have deleted and blocked the page the links came from. Please do not follow any links. If we do a fundraiser it will come directly from us. If we are selling T-shirts and rescue related items the post will come from us and there will be pictures and we will NEVER post links in the comments to purchase items. Thank you, enjoy your day and as always please spay, neuter and microchip your pets.

**PLEASE SHARE**

Maple is very sweet, social, and energetic! She is fully trained and also comes with five free private training sessions in order make the transition into her new home as smooth as possible for both Maple and her new family. Maple is extremely friendly and loving with humans big and small as well as cats and usually other dogs, other than the dog she currently lives with. Poor Maple and the other dog in the home are struggling with some resource guarding issues and it is causing unnecessary stress for both dogs, so we are in need of an immediate foster (or adopter) for this extremely sweet girl. Please help us share Maple so we can hopefully find her a wonderful and loving new home!

**BIG NEWS!** Does everyone remember the poor Lemon Hound, Bella, that was shot twice and in horrific shape? It was a long road to recovery and there were times when we were not sure she would pull through. As you all know from the updates we posted, we were very thankful that contrary to her extremely laid back and sweet personality, Bella was a fighter and she survived the nightmares of her past life and her wounds healed. And now to the best news of all…..

Bella has been adopted! She now has a wonderful family who loves her and spoils her and to make things even better (if that’s possible), Bella now has a fur-brother and fur-sister! They all adore each other and Bella loves playing with her brother and lounging in the sunshine with her hound sister.

We cannot be more happy for Bella or more grateful to her wonderful adopters - they stepped up to foster when we had no other options and then they quickly fell in love and couldn’t bear to see her go. Without wonderful people like Rich and Amy, we couldn’t save all these wonderful souls. We love our fosters and adopters! 🐾💕

Good morning friends, family, followers.. Happy Sunday.
Yesterday was the Brunswick Stew Festival. Usually that is our biggest event of the year. Last year we managed to raise enough money to pay for vetting for one rescue dog. This year it rained.. ALL DAY. Many vendors didnt show up, and the overall attendance was not near what it usually is. When I added up total sales and donations, after the cost of the booth, we made $36.00.

Rescues have 2 main needs to be able to operate, and properly care for the animals. Fosters and funds. We have long term foster dogs in our care, who still need flea, tick, heartworm prevention, regular vetting, and of course food, toys, all the "regular" stuff. When we do an event that we HOPE will bring in much needed funds, and rain hampers it like yesterday, its very discouraging.

So.. How can you help?? Well, we are holding a wine fundraiser right now, where we will make 10% of total sales.

I also have my Birthday fundraiser active for another week or 2. (Rachel Riley-Hall)

Our foster Lisa also has a Birthday fundraiser active right now. (Lisa Wintermute)

We also have T-shirts for sale. I will be taking pictures later of what we have and will post them. We ALWAYS need dog food, treats, toys, amd of course we always welcome donations to our paypal which helps with vetting and other costs.

I have around 1500 friends on facebook. If each one could donate just $2.00 that would help us ALOT. Can you spare just $2.00??

If you have any ideas for a fun, successful fundraiser, please PM me.

If you have EVER thought about fostering, NOW is the time. We get requests DAILY to help dogs in shelters on euthanasia lists, but without fosters and funds, we are helpless. Its a horrible feeling wanting so badly to help, knowing you may be that dogs last chance at life, and not being able to do anything. All rescues are struggling right now, scraping for every last penny to try and save just one more. If you can help in ANY way, we would be grateful! Check out our fundraisers, and if you are interested in fostering please email [email protected] We will get you an application.
Please share.
THANK YOU

Available SOON for adoption.. Piper.. She is maybe American Bully, or Yourguess-isgoodasmine breed.. LOL

Shes tiny but has the heart and personality of a giant. She is a bit shy at first but warms up quickly. She LOVES attention, LOVES to sit on your lap but is very respectful. Honestly she has NO issues at all. Dog friendly, cat friendly, KID APPROVED!!! She is the whole package. She runs like a rolling potato on her short little legs. She gives gentle kisses, she knows how to sit. She gives gentle hugs. We are sure she was not treated very nice in her former life because she cowers at the sight of a hand coming toward her, but as soon as she knows you wont hurt her she soaks up the attention. She has a heart murmur, but the vet thinks it may go away with time. She is heartworm negative, on heartworm prevention, UTD on her shots, and her skin is clearing up nicely. She LOVES food but has NO food issues or aggression. She is pretty cute and pretty perfect. She has a scar that may be from a spay surgery, or may be from a c-section. As soon as her skin is a bit better we will get her spayed if shes not already and microchipped then she will be up for adoption. If you are interested in adopting Piper, please send an email to [email protected] and we will get you an application.

Thank you to our awesome foster Lisa for agreeing to take her in. We cannot save dogs like Piper without people willing to foster.

If you are willing to open your home to a needy pup, please email us. We cover EVERYTHING!! Food, crate, bowls, leash, collar, all vetting, toys, treats, EVERYTHING. All we expect from you is to keep the dog safe, well cared for and LOVED until we can find them their forever family. Shelters are FULL, rescues are broke and swamped, so if you have EVER considered fostering, the time is NOW!!

If you would like to donate to help us with Piper, our paypal is also [email protected]

THANK YOU!!!

Good Morning, in the rescue world we help each other as much as we can, so when an ACO calls and asks for help with a dog that was about to be surrendered to a FULL shelter, of course we said yes. Friends, family, followers, meet Piper. Shes 1-2 years old, American Bully. Shes a pint size, petite chunk of love. She saw the vet yesterday and shes HW neg but has a heart murmur. She had shots, f***l and exam. Aside from being malnourished, and having some missing hair and scrapes on her shes not in bad shape. As soon as she puts on some weight, we will get her spayed. She will be up for adoption after that. I was able to meet Piper the other day and she is the sweetest lil thing. She wants nothing more than to soak up any love and attention you will give her. She was a BIG hit at the vet. Shes currently staying with Lisa, one of our fosters. The ONLY reason we were able to help this little lady was because we had a foster willing to take her in. Fosters are a critical link between homeless pets and their future adoptive homes. Without fosters, we cannot help dogs like Piper. If you are willing to foster a homeless pet, please reach out to us or another rescue near you. Times are tough, shelters are full, rescues are broke and exhausted trying to save all the lives they can. Anything you can do to help is greatly appreciated. We will keep you posted on Piper and her progress. If you are interested in adopting Piper once she is healthy and spayed please send an email to [email protected]
If you can donate toward her vetting and care, the above is also our paypal address.
Thank you. Welcome to the Saving Snoots family little girl.

You all may want to grab a tissue, and a drink before you read this..

"Winston" aka Lukes story...
Some of you will remember several years ago, the black pitty I pulled from Brunswick AC.

When I saw Winston, aka Luke at Brunswick ac, my heart broke. He was thin, and literally COVERED in bite wounds. Old and new. His right front leg had been broken at one point, but the vet recommended leaving it alone because it had already healed and didnt seem to give him any issues. Everyone that knows me, knows I have a soft spot for pitties, especially victims of dog fighting. I took some pictures and tried to find him a rescue. I got a call from AC telling me if I didnt come get him the next day, he was gonna get put down. So of course, I went and got him. He went to the vet and wow... he was not only neutered already but HE WAS MICROCHIPPED!!! He had been neutered back in 2013, and microchipped at the same time. I immediately tried to find his former owner. First I wanted to find out if he had been stolen, or what the real story was. Well, the chip information lead us NOWHERE. Edna and Jackie from Rainbow Animal Rescue of North Carolina also helped in my search. The only information we could find was that he was chipped and registered in Missouri. Unfortunately his owner had moved several times and the chip info was not changed, the last time. We looked and looked and kept coming up empty. Edna did get enough info to tell me she thought his owner may have been military because a couple places the chip was registered had military bases. Dead end after dead end we all but gave up. Several years went by. Several months ago I was going through some old paperwork and found the name of who we thought had been his owner, so I decided to try again and do a new search. Well, BINGO, I had a new address and new phone number and found a FB profile matching the name I was looking for. I sent a message asking if this person ever had a black pitty.. I IMMEDIATELY got a message back saying YES!!! I gave my phone number and asked the man to call me.
He called me immediately and I asked for some details as to what happened that his dog ended up being fought and picked up by animal control in Virginia. He explained to me that he was in the military, and ended up getting deployed. He asked a friend to please take care of his dog while he was overseas. Well, apparently his friend ended up getting deployed as well, and gave Winston aka Luke to another person. When Lukes original owner came back he was told that had been passed around to a few different people and nobody knew what had happened to him but last they knew he was in Virginia. He sent me pictures of him when he had him all those years ago. He was healthy, had a beautiful coat, and I could tell he was loved and cared for. He told me details about Winston, even down to the fact that he liked to watch a certain TV show. Lol. He explained to me how Winston got the wound on his back, told me how he was treated by his vet for that and offered to send me vet records if needed.

He was very upset when I told him and sent him pictures of his condition when we got him. He told me he had almost given up hope of ever finding him or seeing him again. We discussed getting Luke back to him.

Well, today Bryon took Luke down to Rainbow Rescue for a meeting with Gene, his former owner. We wanted a meeting on neutral ground, so there wouldnt be any issues with Winston aka Luke. The meeting went very well. Its going to be a process, because we want to make sure all is well for everyone involved especially Luke.

After all this time, its so good to be part of bringing a much loved dog and his original owner together once again. The fact that Gene is a Veteran who served our country is just a bonus!

Im including pictures of Winston aka Luke from when I pulled him, as well as pictures of the visit today. Without a microchip, none of this would have been possible!!!

PLEASE SPAY, NEUTER AND MICROCHIP YOUR PETS, AND KEEP CHIP INFO UP TO DATE.

If you are missing your pet, NEVER EVER GIVE UP!! Happy reunions happen all the time! Keep the faith.

Because of the absue Winston suffered being fought, our vet said he would always have skin issues, and sensitive skin. Its a battle with him. We have him on grain free and that helps some but every spring and summer we have to take him for allergy shots and meds. Hes battling a flareup right now but we are getting through it.

We have BIG news!!!
2 weeks ago we took Merlin up to a good friend of ours for a meet and greet, and potential adoption. The main make or break would be how he got along with her pup Vanelope, and her kitties. Well, from the first second it was love at first sight. We did our usual walk around, slow intro, and all went well, (other than Merlin getting so excited he lifted his leg and PEED ON MY SHOE).. STINKER.. Hollys dog Vanelope was SO excited to have a new friend, and Merlin was comfortable with her and Holly right away. He was interested in the kitties, but didnt bother them once the initial sniffing was over. After a couple hours Lisa, (Merlins foster Mama) and I left, both comfortable that things would go well. We got a message the next day about the trios first trip to the park.. Poor Holly had both dogs on leashes, attached to her waist and Merlin saw a swampy pond and decided it would be a nice place to go for a swim..Holly's dog Vanelope wanted NO part of that, and we are told she just sat there looking at him like he had lost his mind.. All 3 survived the ordeal, and we all got a good laugh. Over the past 2 weeks we have gotten pictures and updates almost daily about how well Merlin is doing and how much he is loved. Today we got the word that Holly would like to finalize the adoption and make Merlin an official part of her family. We couldnt be happier for Merlin and for Holly and Vanelope.

Holly is a friend for many years. We met Holly when our rescue dog Mama went missing near where she lives. Holly reached out, not knowing us at all and like several other people up there, offered to help in any way possible. We were offered food, a place to stay, while we spent days and nights up there searching. Holly and others hung posters, made flyers and went door to door. We made lifelong friends over that time, and to have one of those friends adopt one of our rescue pups, has us over the moon with joy. Although Mama has never been found, we will NEVER stop looking for her, and we are grateful for the people that stepped up and helped us when we needed it, and became part of our Saving Snoots Animal Rescue family! We will forever be grateful.

CONGRATULATIONS TO Holly, Vanelope and Merlin on your new lives together. I forsee many happy times ahead and maybe an unexpected swim in your futures!!!

BIG HUGE THANK YOU TO Lisa for stepping up immediately when I called asking for a foster for Merlin. Fosters like YOU are such a needed and integral part of rescue, we CANT do it without YOU!!

If you are looking to foster a dog or cat, puppy or kitten, PLEASE reach out to us or your local rescue. Times are hard, euthanasia rates are through the roof, rescues and shelters are FULL TO OVERFLOWING. If you have ever thought about fostering, NOW is the time.

As always, please spay, neuter and microchip your pets!!

Happy tails sweet Merlin, we know you are in GREAT hands!
Praying someday we will find Mama. Until then we will NEVER stop looking.

UPDATE on Munchkin.. She went to the vet to be poked and prodded, vaccinated and tested. DAYS after her rescue I was still picking ticks off of her. (Yes vet verified she is a girl). She eats like a horse, shes super friendly. The vet thinks she is 10 weeks old, but small for her age. I will admit, I have NO idea how to tell the age of a kitten, cat. Give me a dog, and Im usually spot on with the vet, but cats arent my area of expertise. Her f***l test showed no parasites, YAY but the vet gave her advantage multi for ticks, and any parasites that may not have shown in the f***l. Her combo test was negative, again, YAY..Shes on meds for diareah, and I have been adding kitten milk replacer to her food. She is gaining weight and doing great.. I will add more pictures later.
I THINK she must have gotten into the engine area of a car and ended up taking a trip to Food Lion and thats how she ended up there. This is pure speckluation on my part but even after several baths she still has what appears to be motor oil staining on parts of her paws and face. Poor baby, she must have had a hell of a ride.

My adventure for the day... Got a call from Nancy P. Watson asking me if I could run to food lion and grab a kitten. She was on transport and couldnt go. Eden and I jumped in the car n went. I asked a food lion employee if he had seen a kitten. He took me to where the kitten was under a car, screaming its head off. Of course I get down to try n grab the kitten and it took off. The pavement was so hot I burnt my hands n knees. So here we are chasing this tiny emaciated skeleton of a kitten from car to car, all while its screaming.. At one point the food lion employee almost had the kitten but it squirted out of his hands. Finally it darts under a car with a low spoiler and tried to climb up into the engine compartment. All I could see was its tail hanging down, so I grabbed the kittens tail. It immediately turned around and I was able to grab it. First thing I saw was a HUGE tick, right on the side of its face. I stuffed the kitten in the crate and headed for home. The poor thing is so skinny, its literally bones and fur. Probably only about 6 or so weeks old I think. The kitten was so hot, from being out there and running, I was afraid it was gonna die of heat stroke. I set it in the sink and wet its paws with cool water. It immediately drank some water. I rinsed the kitten off and used a little dish soap to get the oil off. We picked off at least a dozen or so ticks. Now kitten has eaten, drank and is sleeping in a crate. I dont think this lil bu**er woulda lasted much longer in the heat.
THANKS to the food lion employee and the other shopper for helping me catch the baby.

PLEASE PEOPLE... SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS!! This baby could have easily died either hit by a vehicle or from overheating.

In my life, nothing ever goes as I planned.. So heres yesterday. Heading to South Hill to pick up a kitty and out from the median on the highway come bolting these 2 hoodlums.. I JAM on the breaks. Eden yells.. GRAMMA, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?? I pull over, put on the flashers and run over to try n grab them. Well I managed to sn**ch up one and race back across the road, I throw open the back door of the car and plop him on Edens lap. I race back to try n get the other one, who is having NONE of it!! Its easily 100 degrees and I already have sweat running in places it shouldnt be. Little bu**er sits just out of my reach and as I CRAWL thru the grass in the median he keeps backing away then runs into a culvert.. Meanwhile, back at the car... Eden is yelling, GRAMMA THIS PUPPY HAS TICKS ALL OVER IT, YUCK. LOOK IM PICKING THEM OFF AND THROWING THEM OUT THE WINDOW.. I said OK Eden, good job, now SHHHH so you dont scare the other puppy.. There wasnt alot of traffic, but everytime a car would be coming Eden would yell, GRAMMA... THERES A CAR COMING...Yes Eden, I know, its ok, just stay in the car with the puppy!!! So after like 30 min, by now Im certain I will DIE any second from heat exhaustion, and still dont have puppy 2. I call Sheriff Roberts and Im sure I sounded like an insane lunatic.. I could barely explain anything without breathing heavy and basically panting.. Poor guy probably thought he had some kind of pervert trying to prank him, except he knows my number, so Im glad he understood. Lol. He said he would call and have someone come help me. A few minutes later I got a call from a very sweet dispatcher who told me the ACO on duty would be calling and coming to help. Meanwhile, puppy is still out of reach but now has decided to come across the road by the car. Everytime Id get close he would try to cross the road again. At one point when I was squatted down in the median, an ambulance came by, turned around and came back to see if I was ok. At least 6 other people slowed or stopped to see if I was ok. Im sure they thought I was crazy being it was so hot, I was panting and red faced.. So I call Cassie Boyd because Im supposed to meet Holly Burnette to pick up this kitty, but now Im gonna be late cuz Im busy playing hide n seek with a little stinker puppy.. By this time Im completely soaked, out of breath and frantic cuz Im certain this little s**t is gonna dart out in the road and Im gonna witness its tragic end and be traumatized for life. Cassie calmed me down and told me she would get with Holly to see if she could come. Meanwhile the ACO called me back and said he was on his way but it may be awhile before he could get to me. Eden is in the back of the car, puppy on her lap and shes still bitching about the ticks. EEWWWW THERES A HUGE ONE IN ITS EAR...
So I settle down and think for a minute and a lightbulb goes off... I had a small wire crate in the backseat that I had planned on using for the kitty... EDEN, Shove the puppy in the crate.. Eden says, WHAT??? Its too small... EDEN, JUST SHOVE THE PUPPY IN THE CRATE AND SHUT THE DOOR.. OK GRAMMA.. Ok Eden now help me get the crate out.. Eden, "WHAT??" By this time Im ready to pass out from the heat.. So we get the crate with the first puppy out and set it in the grass about 10 feet off the road..INSTANTLY the other little puppy sees his buddy and runs over and starts sniffing and giving Eden kisses... I say, EDEN, SCRUFF THE PUPPY... Eden.. WHAT?? ME, EDEN JUST SCRUFF THE PUPPY AND DONT LET IT GO...Ive got the crate door open barely enough for me to reach one hand in and hang onto the 1 puppy, while she scruffs the other puppy, holds him still and I sn**ch him up and shove him in!! SUCCESS!!! 2 puppies saved from the road.. We head to South Hill, Holly helped me bring the puppies inside to give them water, some pizza, lol and cool them down. I grabbed kitty and off to Brunswick AC we went. It was nowhere in my plans to be chasing and catching renegade puppies... But no way I could leave them there. So... Here come the thank yous . HUGE thank you to Sheriff Roberts, his dispatcher, and ACO that helped me, and big thanks to Holly and Cassie from Sweet Virginia Barn Cats love you ladies!!! To everyone who stopped to ask if I was ok, thank you, you have helped restore my faith in humans.
These 2 are at Brunswick Shelter and will be available for rescue or adoption after their stray hold, if not reclaimed.
