The type of collar or leash isn't the focus; it's the type of training that matters. This pup has never been exposed to shock collars, pinch chokers, or harsh treatment. Correct bad behavior with short leash corrections or redirections. Bonding and communication are key.
#recall training on long lead.
Before you take your pup out in public make sure you are relaxed but ready for anything. Your pups must know you will take care of them not the other way around. This leadership should start at home and be practiced before venturing out into our strange and weird world . Imagine how this world looks to them!!
Hand signs no words needed!!
Permission should be required before a pup can go out or in a door. It could save their life!
Teaching your dog to check in with you is one of the keys to hiking off leash no matter what distractions are around.
I think Quake is enjoying helping me to teach Luna her tricks!
A trained older dog and some stairs can teach a new pup new things. Elvis is helping me with Rowan.
Peaceful #saturdaymorning
There comes a time in training when you have to trust your pup will do the right thing. Chasing a dog rarely works but running the other way may! In this case, I threatened to drive away and it worked because I am Quake's leader.
Buddy! We have a 12 year relationship. We've been through a lot together. He lost many loving parents while I have known him but kept his cool personality and smarts.
I've received 100 reactions to my posts in the past 30 days. Thanks for your support. šš¤š
This is Buddy! I taught him to "spin" and hike "off leash " over 10 years ago. He still remembers! This is the first time I have seen him since his owner passed away. Fortunately he's with a loving family taking good care of him.
Waiting to chase snow squirrels!
Quake gets a bonus treat !
